Many collectors might have thought that we had seen everything there was to see of the set when The LEGO Movie LEGO Minifigures Series 12 71003 photos were finally posted online last week, but that’s not quite true. Once that image became public we finally knew for certain who all of the figures in LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 blind bags would be and what the minifigures would look like, we still didn’t know what the blind bags packaging itself would look like. Good news for those unable to sleep at night, though–LEGO has now revealed the 71003 LEGO Minifigures Series 12 packaging design!
I had heard rumors that LEGO had chosen to get with a bright and shiny electric blue color scheme for the 71003 LEGO Minifigures Series 12 LEGO Movie packaging, but that turns out to be just a hair off the mark! In actuality, the LEGO Minifigures Series 12 color scheme is going to be a shiny, metallic navy blue color. I actually like this dark blue color a lot, and think that it’s a nice complement to the bright red and white of the LEGO Movie logo.
This will be the second LEGO Minifigures Series to feature blue as its color, as LEGO Minifigures Series 2 8684 (waaaaay back in 2011) featured a bright primary blue as it color. The new blind bags are a much darker blue and look very different to me from that past design, so I don’t have any problem with LEGO repeating blue as as The LEGO Movie blind bags color. I kind of hope that we see a pink LEGO Minifigures Series in 2014, but I can understand if LEGO wants to shy away from pink because of the connotations the color carries.
What do you think about the LEGO Movie Minifigures Series 12 packaging, LEGO collectors? Is is classy and flashy enough for you, or were you hoping the design would be different somehow?
Can you do a series 12 rarity guide?
Yes. Yes I can. I’ll get one put together this weekend. I’d actually forgotten all about it. Thanks!
