I’ve long maintained that LEGO Minifigures Series 12 71007 would be fully revealed during San Diego Comic-Con 2014. But while my thought was that LEGO themselves would premiere the LEGO 71007 Minifigures Series 12 at SDCC 2014 themselves, that’s not quite the case. Actually, LEGO didn’t show off the series at the event at all. Instead, mega-retailer Argos leaked images of the set onto the web. Luckily, this isn’t math class, so while my reasoning was wrong, the results are all that matter–and LEGO Minifigures Series 12 looks outstanding!
I gave my commentary on the LEGO Piggy Guy, Spooky Girl/Goth Girl and Prospector Minifigures last month, and my thoughts on the LEGO Video Game Guy, Space Miner, Battle Goddess, Dino Tracker, Swashbuckler and Wizard Minifigures even earlier.
So that leaves just seven LEGO Minifigs Series 12 to discuss!
- Pizza Guy: My favorite of the just-revealed second half of LEGO Minifigs Series 12 blind bags! I love his new pizza piece, the awesome pizza box and his printed hat! I don’t know that the LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Pizza Guy minifigure is a figure I’ll need to army-build, but I definitely do love him!
- Genie Girl: While I would’ve liked the LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Genie Girl more in pink (so she’d have the “I Dream of Genie” vibe going on), the light blue looks good too. I wonder if her lower body would have been good for making a custom LEGO Elsa minifigure if it wasn’t for the Genie Tail?
- Lifeguard: I’m all lifeguard-ed out. The red LEGO binoculars are a nice addition, but I won’t be particularly said if this LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Lifeguard blind bag doesn’t turn up in the case at my local store.
- Fairy Tale Princess: Love the frog, love the princess hat (hennin). Not a bad figure at all, but not a jaw-dropper either.
- Jester: Orange and purple LEGO Jester minifigure? Awesome! This is my favorite Jester yet. It’s amazing how much difference just changing a few colors can make on a LEGO figure. The LEGO playing cards put this LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Jester minifigure over-the-top as an excellent figure.
- Hun Warrior: LOVE! This LEGO Minifigure Series 12 Hun Warrior is gonna be a hot army-builder figure for sure. I suspect this will definitely be the hottest figure in LEGO 71007 this fall.
- Rock Star: Wow, now this is a LEGO Rock Star minifigure unlike any we’ve had before! This aesthetic for a Rock Star isn’t my preference, but it’s great to see the Rock Star hair available again on this very unique LEGO Series 12 Minifigures Rock Star figure.
What do you think about the first non-themed LEGO Minifigures Series of 2014, LEGO fans? Was LEGO Minifigures Series 12 worth the wait, or would you rather LEGO went back to doing themed/licensed LEGO Collectable Minifigure Series?
Do you have any idea when in October? I’m hoping to use them for party favors for my son’s birthday, October 18th.
I would assume early October.
Hey Dabid, have you seen any recent leaks/rumours about the supposed return of Bionicle in 2015? There have recently been some leaks of possible sets as well as a few… interesting… clues Lego has unintentionally let slip (again, all speculation.) I know you’ve never really reviewed any Bionicle/Hero Factory on here, but it was a HUGE theme back during its run, and would be news worthy if it’s confirmed…
Bionicle is coming back in 2015, if that’s what you’re asking? 😉
I hope, but for now its rumors. Have u seen the fake lego bionicles on the web?
