Remember the olden days, way back when non-themed sets of LEGO Minifigures blind bags were released? Yes, it may be hard to believe, but before there were LEGO Simpsons Minifigures blind bags and before there were LEGO Movie blind bags, LEGO used to release generic series of fun and random minifigures. And coming in October 2014, it’ll be a return to those thrilling days of yesteryear, with the release of LEGO Minifigures Series 12 71007!
At the 2014 New York Toy Fair, we got our first look at 71007 LEGO Minifigures Series 12… in the form of a blanked-out, fairly generic box. We can tell based on the box color that the LEGO Minifigures Series 12 blind bags packaging is going to be gray or silver themed (but likely gray), and that this will be another series containing 16 figures, but literally we couldn’t tell anything else about the set.
But fear not, LEGO fans! We shan’t have to wait until San Diego Comic Con 2014 to hear more about LEGO Minifigures Series 12 71007! Thanks to an information leak from from retailer KockaMánia.hu, we have our first list of characters included in the series!
Loosely translated from Hungarian, the figures included the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 12 list is as follows:
- Battle Goddess
- Dino Tracker (Dinosaur Hunter?)
- Fairy Tale Princess (I hope it’s Elsa, but I’m sure it isn’t)
- Genie Girl
- Hun Warrior
- Jester
- Lifeguard (Male?)
- Pig Guy (Guy in Pig Costume?)
- Pizza Delivery Man
- Prospector
- Rock Star
- Space Miner
- Spooky Girl (Goth Girl?)
- Swashbuckler
- Video Game Guy (Gamer?)
- Wizard
Now, I have no clue what a “Space Miner” would even look like, but the rest of the figures on the list sound pretty straight-forward. I’m shocked to not see Michelangelo (the artist, not the Ninja Turtle) present, though. Perhaps he’ll be coming in a 2015 LEGO Minifigures Series? We’ll have to wait and see.
Unfortunately, the real bummer is that the price increase that began with the licensed LEGO Minifigures blind bags this year will be continuing on to the generic series, as the USA price-point for LEGO 71007 Minifigures Series 12 has been set at $3.99 per blind bag. This is a rather dramatic increase, and it’s tough to justify it as anything other than LEGO being greedy.
LEGO Minifigures Series 12 71007 is scheduled to be released in October 2014. I’ll post an update here and to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook page when more information and photos of the series are available, so stay tuned.
Based off this retailer list of characters coming this fall, are you interested in LEGO Minifigures Series 12, LEGO fans? Or is the hefty $4 per blind bag price-point curbing your enthusiasm for this release?
No, cops with this set for my ongoing collection unless I include the Pig Guy… 😉
The increase to $3.99 is a bit steep (25% raise in price?!). But if they give us a little more with these figs it may be worth it.
I don’t think that 3.99 is a bad price.. Considering the huge draw that lego movie brought to these figures.. And the high quality head sculpts of the Simpsons.. I don’t mind paying the $4 for high quality lego.
maybe a space miner is like isaac clarke?
This series is based on the CMF online game, and will come with a code for each character.
That may be bumping up the price.
I feel like it will not curb my want to get them, that being said I will only be picking them up if I KNOW what I am getting through the feel method.
Also I hope that CMF series 13 is all about “bad luck”
I think Lego needs to bring out Minifigures series for the Superheroes. For me buying the sets just for the minifigures is too expensive.
they cannot release superhero characters as lone minifigures due to licensing issues, same goes with the why they don’t do star wars the same way even thogh they’d sell like hotcakes
How did they manage to do it with the simpsons then?
becasue matel owns the licensing for star wars figures, thats why there is always a certain amount of brick building that you have to do (build a cannon) when there is an army pack. I am not sure about the superheros but I am sure that there is someone that would be upset if lego started selling JUST the char. The simpsons dont really have a toy deal out as there has never been a market for them.
