We got a major treat today that I absolutely was not expecting: the first LEGO Minifigures Series 11 Photos! Don’t run out the door to your local retailer just yet–71002 LEGO Minifigures Series 11 isn’t scheduled to be released in stores until September 2013. In fact, I didn’t expect to see a single LEGO Series 11 Minifigures photo until next month at San Diego Comic-Con 2013. But, well, things happen, prototype images leak out, and now we’ve got our very first look at this fall’s LEGO Minifigures Series 11 figures…
LEGO Minifigures Series 11 will roll out in just three months, as the set’s release date is set for September 2013.LEGO Minifigures Series 11 71002 will be the first series to come in dark green blind bags and a dark green case. If you’re looking for the complete 71002 LEGO Minifigures Series 11 List of Figures, I posted that back in April, and this latest photo seems to confirm that the LEGO Series 11 Minifigures Lineup that I posted back then was accurate.
This image was found originally on Brickshelf and gives us our first glimpse at five of the LEGO Series 11 Minifigures: the LEGO Welder, Lady Robot, Evil Mech, Scientist and Yeti minifigures. Looking at the uniqueness and quality of the parts used in these figures, there’s almost no chance that these minifigures are customs–these are full-fledged, production-quality LEGO minifigures.
Some of the figures in LEGO Minifigures Series 11 sounded a little boring to me when we only knew their names, but now that we’ve seen some of them, I’m completely reassured that this will be another blockbuster series for LEGO (especially if there aren’t any crazy hijinks like the LEGO Minifigures Series 10 Mr. Gold minifigure fiasco).I wasn’t a big fan of the LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Mech, but the LEGO Evil Mech minifigure is a terrific counterpart for it and really does look pretty sinister. Meanwhile, the LEGO Yeti minifigure is downright adorable and is going to be a serious contender for my favorite LEGO Minifigures series figure of 2013. That clear blue Popsicle he comes with is just too adorable!
The LEGO Welder Minifigure sort of bores me, as I don’t collect a lot of LEGO City stuff, but I love his mask and tank. They look so detailed and well-done! Finally, I know the Lady Robot minifigure may be controversial, but I actually think that minifigure looks exceptional. The pink hands are a bit weird, but the Clockwork Robot style is always fun, and I like that this one has a feminine touch. As for the female Scientist minifigure, well… I think I finally found the proper minifigure head to make a custom of my wife with (and hey, she’s a Science teacher!).
Please note that these are not official images–LEGO will likely officially unveil LEGO Minifigures Series 11 in its entirety next month at the 2013 SDCC. I’ll be providing full coverage of Comic-Con next month, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have LEGO News and Updates sent directly to your Facebook Newsfeed.
What do you think of these early photos, LEGO Collectable Minifigures collectors? Are you in for another series of blind bagged LEGO Minifigures?
I need a few of those yeti!
All of those are great looking. I like the Yeti, it’s a little cartoonish but cool. Welder is cool great mask, another strong female character with the scientist. Bias as my wife works in a lab. So I’ll need two of those figs. one for me one for her. Female robot is cool. Plus another Mech. Series 11 is looking good.
I want the scientist and the welder
Grandma better come with a walking stick to whack the grandpa
Yetti looks great! I love the popsicle accessory! I will be getting the scientist too. Looking forward to seeing the gingerbread man and Bavarian lady! Maybe they’ll give her a beer mug.
I believe the Yeti will sell off the walls! I know every Big foot owner is going to want one for his/her key ring [myself included!]. I will be picking up as many as I can!
