The festivities of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim are at an end, and that means that now we can head back into the water of other licensed territories! Last week I started off my LEGO Minecraft summer 2015 sets coverage with the fiery Nether Fortress, so tonight let’s move on to a totally different environment with an arctic biome! Coming in August 2015–LEGO Minecraft The Snow Hideout 21120!
And while we’re not getting a whole bunch of arctic sets this summer (like we did with the awesome LEGO City Arctic sets last summer), at least there are some snowy sets like 21120 to look forward to!
21120 The Snow Hideout is the very first snowy-terrained set in the LEGO Minecraft theme. There hasn’t been an arctic set yet in the Minifigure or Micro-Scale sets, so this is a true first!
Although the Minecraft Snow Hideout set was still in incomplete prototype form at New York Toy Fair 2015 (particularly the minifigures), the box gives us a solid look at what the final product is going to be.
The Minecraft Snow Hideout is primarily built of white bricks (as you would expect), and has a hinge so that the building can open up and swivel outwards.
The door to the hideout also opens and closes, and there’s a unique-looking brick-built tree with a clear green brick on top! I don’t believe we’ve ever had a LEGO tree like this one before!
This is a really bizarre set, as it only includes one true minifigure! While the set includes another Creeper figure and an all-new Snow Golem figure, the only regular minifigure in the set is yet another Steve. It’s definitely unusual for $35 set to only have one true minifigure!
The coolest part of the whole Snow Hideout set is definitely the LEGO Snow Golem figure! As necessitated by the design, the Snow Golem is brick-built. What’s really fun about the Snow Golem is his stud-firing arms, though! Better mind your manners, mobs!
The Snow Hideout will contain 327 pieces for $34.99. That’s 10.7 cents per piece, which is a bit pricy for a set with only one true minifigure, but not nearly as horrid as some of the values we’ve seen this year. This is the only Minecraft set I’m likely to buy in 2015, so I’m willing to look past the extra penny per piece, personally.
The LEGO Minecraft The Snow Hideout 21120 set is scheduled to be officially released in August 2015, with early shipments hitting select stores (like Toys R Us) in mid-July 2015. The first wave of Minecraft sets were hot sellers last year and hard to find for a while, and I expect this second batch to be just as popular.
What do you think about the first snow-covered Minecraft LEGO set, Minecraft fans? Will the Snow Hideout and Snow Golem be joining your world this summer?
I don’t understand why Steve’s shirt is using a prototype piece; it looks identical to the one used on Steve minifigures from previous MINECRAFT sets.
I think all the minecraft sets have had green transparent parts:P
