LEGO Marvel Knowhere Escape Mission Summer 2014 Set Photos

Marvel has now officially begun letting merchandising companies show off their Guardians of the Galaxy movie products, and that means that we’re finally able to get a good look at the sets that weren’t allowed to be photographed at the New York Toy Fair 2014 in February! First up, let’s take a gander at the Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO Marvel Knowhere Escape Mission 76020, which just may be the most-anticipated of the sets for two reasons–and those two reasons are “LEGO Rocket Raccoon” and “LEGO Groot”….

LEGO Marvel Knowhere Escape Mission 76020 Box LEGO Marvel Summer 2014Although some low-quality photos of the LEGO 76020 Knowhere Escape Mission set managed to leak out onto the internet a few months ago, those images were small and grainy and simply did not do justice to the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Knowhere Escape Mission set. However, now that hi-res images of the set are available, we can get a very good look at all the detail we were missing out on based on the leaked photos!

The Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO Knowhere Escape Mission 76020 set will contain 433 pieces at a price-point of $39.99, making it a very reasonable value of 9 cents per piece. The main component of the playset is a mining station with humongous bazooka on it, but by far the more alluring part of the set for most folks is going to be the four including LEGO minifigures!

LEGO 76020 Knowhere Escape Mission Guardians of the Galaxy Set with LEGO Groot Rocket RaccoonLEGO 76020 Knowhere Escape Mission set includes three minifigures, and two of the three minifigures are exclusive to this set: the LEGO Rocket Raccoon minifigure, LEGO Nebula minifigure (with dual-wielding swords action!), and a LEGO Sakaaran minifigure. In addition, a gigantic, brick-built LEGO Groot is also part of the set.

I don’t know how I feel about the bulky design LEGO came up with for Groot, but the Rocket Raccoon LEGO minifigure is absolutely adorable! I even feel like Rocket’s little Mining Pod vehicle is the cutest. While I don’t care too much for the enemy attack tower in this LEGO Knowhere Escape Mission set, that’s the only portion of the set I don’t really want, so this will be an instant purchase for me as soon as it turns up in stores.

LEGO Rocket Raccon Minifigure LEGO Groot FigureThe LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Knowhere Escape Mission 76020 set is scheduled to be released in June 2014, although I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the set slip out into stores in mid-to-late May 2014. I’ll post an update once the 76020 LEGO Nowhere Escape Mission arrives in stores, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have more LEGO photos, news and updates beamed to your Facebook Newsfeed!

Now that you can see them up-close and personal, what do you think of the LEGO Rocket Raccoon and Groot minifigures? Will you be picking up LEGO 76020 to get your own raccoon and tree duo this summer, or does this set not offer enough to appeal to you outside of this pair of minifigures?

  1. I may have to get this to induct Rocket into my group of unofficial Chima citizens. I see that Groot uses the new mini ball joints. Maybe some LOTR fans will borrow him to be a young Ent. Is that a new, smaller firing missile I see?

  2. I am excited about the new GOTG sets buy I will say im very disappointed with the Groot in this set 🙁 he looks awful. I’ve played the lego marvel game with my kids and the Groot on the game is far better. He is more like the Hulk minifig which is awesome!! Ill still buy this because ill have to have the sets but other than that I wish they would do Groot differently
