LEGO managed to keep photos of their LEGO Marvel 2014 sets under wraps for far longer than any of their other themes, but thanks to an Australian retail catalog photo, all of the 2014 LEGO Marvel Superheroes sets and their secrets have been revealed! If you’ve been hoping for LEGO MODOK, Taskmaster, Electro minifigures and more, then next year is going to be a good year for you!
Rumor lists popped up detailing the Marvel LEGO Superheroes 2014 sets during the summer, but we haven’t seen good, detailed photos of the sets to concretely confirm them–until today!
The five confirmed winter LEGO Marvel 2014 sets are as follows:
LEGO Marvel 2014 Spider-Trike vs. Electro 76014
Contains: LEGO Spider-Man Minifigure and LEGO Electro Minifigure
I’m really not sure why Spider-Man would ever need an ATV to ride around on, but perhaps he’s fighting the LEGO Ultimate Electro minifigure in a sparsely-populated area without many building to web-sling from? Regardless, I’m thrilled that we’re getting a cheap set of Spider-Man and the main antagonist from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 film.
2014 LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Doc Ock Truck Heist 76015
Contains: LEGO Doctor Octopus Minifigure, LEGO Spider-Man Minifigure, LEGO Police Officer Minifigure
I don’t really care very much about this generic LEGO armored car/truck, but I love the brick-built tentacles on the classic comic book version LEGO Doc Ock minifigure. Even so, the LEGO Doc Ock Truck Heist 76015 is probably still my least favorite of the five LEGO Marvel 2014 sets.
LEGO Spider-Man 2014 Spider-Helicopter Rescue 76016
Contains: LEGO Ultimate Green Goblin Minifigure, LEGO Mary Jane minifigure, LEGO Power Man Minifigure (Luke Cage), LEGO Ultimate Spider-Man Minifigure
Note: This LEGO Spider-Helicopter Rescue 76016 set includes the Ultimate Green Goblin LEGO Minifigure, as seen in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon and comic books. This is the real way the Green Goblin looks in those series, believe it or not.
LEGO Marvel 2014 Captain America vs. Hydra 76017
Contains: LEGO Captain America Minifigure, LEGO Red Skull Minifigure, LEGO Hydra Soldier Minifigure
I never thought I’d like to see the day that there would be a Nazi LEGO Red Skull minifigure, but the LEGO Captain America vs. Hydra 76017 set is giving us just that. Crazy! It’s a pity there won’t be any cheap way to army-build Hydra Soldier minifigure at this time, though.
2014 LEGO Marvel Hulk Lab Smash76018
Contains: LEGO Hulk Minifigure, LEGO Taskmaster Minifigure, LEGO Thor Minifigure, LEGO Falcon Minifigure, LEGO MODOK Minifigure
The LEGO Hulk Lab Smash 76018 set is pretty uninspired besides the amazing selection of minifigures! Who doesn’t want LEGO MODOK, Falcon and Taskmaster minifigures?! It’s worth noting that there are no LEGO Black Widow or Hawkeye minifigure in the sets for this wave, so you’ll need to purchase older sets if you want to complete a full roster of the movie LEGO Avengers minifigure.
The new 2014 LEGO Marvel sets are scheduled for release in late winter 2014. These sets aren’t expected to be available with the rest of the LEGO winter 2014 wave in January 2014–it’s more likely that these sets will start to appear in February/March 2014. I’ll post more photos and information on the pricing and number of pieces per set once that information is available, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have LEGO news, photos and updates sent straight to your Facebook Newsfeed!
Now that we’ve seen them all, how is the LEGO 2014 Marvel sets lineup looking for you, Marvel fans? What’s your favorite set (if not all of them)?
I love them all.
Ive been waiting for ages, how did lego keep them under wraps?
My favorite figure is MODOK.
I love Spidermans figure, i dony know why people hate it.
Modok is interesting. I guess it depends on the depiction as to where exactly his arms and legs usually come out from, so using a standard minifig body mostly works okay.
Spider-Man, of course, always gets these really nice vehicles in the toy isle that he has absolutely no chance of having in the comics or cartoon shows. The animated “Ultimate” aside, since its entire premise throws sanity out the window anyway.
Speaking of the animated “Ultimate”, clever use of the Lego Hulk body as its oddball version of Green Goblin.
