LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013 Sets Released In Stores!

LEGO Galaxy Squad not your thing? Still have some money left over from buying all the 2013 LEGO Castle sets? Don’t worry–LEGO has a plan to get your money yet! The plot is pretty simple, too: LEGO has now released their four latest LEGO Lord of the Rings sets! If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on LEGO Lord of the Rings sets from Return of the King, Soldiers of the Dead minifigures, or the first-ever LEGO Middle Earth Pirate Ship, the time is now upon us!

It seems like only yesterday that I wrote up the initial set photo previews for the 2013 LEGO Lords of the Rings summer sets, but actually it’s been a third of a year already! Once again a new season of LEGO sets is upon us, and the LEGO fairy has brought us four all-new and highly-demanded LEGO Lord of the Rings sets: Battle at the Black Gate, Pirate Ship Ambush, The Wizard Battle, and The Council of Elrond.

I heard a rumor that the first United States sightings of the LEGO Lord of the Rings sets had come in from the west coast, and since I was so lucky in finding the new LEGO Castle, Galaxy Squad and LEGO Chima sets a few weeks ago, I decided to head out in search of the new LEGO summer sets. Sure enough, my local Toys R Us had stocked up on the set that I wanted the most from the assortment: the LEGO Lord of the Rings Battle at the Black Gate 79007! There was no shelf space or price stickers for the other three sets yet at my store, but I’m certain they’ll show up later this week now that the Black Gate was there.

I was pretty stunned to see the fair price of just $69.99 for the LEGO Battle at the Black Gate set at my local Toys R Us. I’m not sure if Toys R Us forgot to inflate the price on this set or if they’ve decided to price the set without scalping (for a change), but it was a really pleasant surprise to pick up the new set featuring the LEGO Mouth of Sauron and King Aragorn Minifigures for retail price!
