LEGO Legends of Chima fans who’ve already collected the first series of sets won’t have long to wait for a new assortment of sets, as LEGO will be releasing numerous new Speedorz sets and at least four larger sets this summer. The largest and most impressive of the vehicular LEGO Chima Summer 2013 sets will belong to the Wolf Tribe, who’ll be going on the attack with the huge LEGO Chima Worriz’s Combat Lair 70009!

Of all the LEGO Legends of Chima sets we’ve seen so far, I think that Worriz’s Combat Lair 70009 is easily the most ambitious one. While the set is a terrifying mobile tank-like vehicle when all together, it also has the action feature of splitting up into five separate vehicles! It’s sort of like a Power Rangers Megazord where all of the individual Zords come together to form a scary, all-powerful tank!

Just the helicopter portion of Worriz’ Combat Lair which separates from the back of the vehicle looks awesome and is almost large and awesome enough to sell as a LEGO Legends of Chima set in its own right!

LEGO 70009 Worriz’s Combat Lair will come with six LEGO Chima minifigures: Eagle Tribe member Eris, white Gorilla Tribe Grizzam minifigure; and Wolf Tribe members Worriz, Wakz, Windra, and Wilhurt. While five of these minifigures will be available in at least one other (cheaper) set, there’s one exception. Exclusive to this set will be the female Wolf Tribe member, Windra the white wolf!

I think LEGO made a very smart choice making the Windra minifigure exclusive to this set. For me, Windra is a must-have for my collection, and a big incentive to pick up a set that I’d otherwise have to think twice about because of the price. In addition, I like that I can get the white Gorilla Tribe Grizzam figure in this set, which means I can skip the Speedorz Tower Target 70110 set entirely and still have all of the Gorilla Tribe minifigures.

Official pricing information isn’t available yet for the LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’s Combat Lair 70009 set in the United States, but at 664 pieces, it’s likely to cost around US $69.99. 70009 Worriz’s Combat Lair is one of the LEGO Chima Summer 2013 sets, and should arrive in stores in late July 2013.

UPDATE: The LEGO Chima Worriz’ Combat Lair 70009 set is now available online from international sellers on ebay! The set is more expensive than it would cost in stores (as it needs to be shipped from another country right now), but if you can’t stand to wait another minute to order this set, you can get it online now!
