I’m gonna be honest: I love LEGOs, but I am not a LEGO cartoon kind of guy (at all). I watched half of the LEGO Atlantis episode, and it turned me off the whole theme (even the toys). So it’s no surprise that I’m out of loop when it comes to upcoming LEGO animation. That’s why I was totally taken off guard when I picked up the flyer card at my local LEGO store advertising the LEGO Legend of Chima Series Premiere next month!
The Legend of Chima cartoon series premiere will be airing on Cartoon Network at 7:30 central time on Wednesday, January 16th. A Wednesday night seems like a weird time to air a huge property’s premiere, but I trust Cartoon Network (for some reason) to get it right with their infinite wisdom.
While I’m no LEGO cartoon fan and literally have never seen a whole episode of one ever, I’m going to make an exception I am heavily intrigued by the 2013 LEGO Legend of Chima sets, and am really looking forward to picking up a bunch of them on their release day (January 1st, 2013).
And speaking of the LEGO Legend of Chima 2013 sets, the back of the advertisement card has photos and the full lineup of Legend of Chima minifigures that have been announced thus far! I’m a LEGO fanboy to begin with, but this ad completely sold me on the whole Legend of Chima theme. I thought the concept seemed neat before, but after seeing the full assortment of the Chima minifigures in their glory I want all of them.
Maybe it’s because I grew up in the 80’s playing with Battle Beasts toys, but I just can’t resist the fun aesthetic of these LEGO animal warriors figures. I think it’s a little bit silly that all of the members of the Lion Tribe have names that start with ‘L’ like Lennox and Leonidas and the Raven Tribe members have names that all start with ‘R’ like Rizzo and Razar (and so forth), but this original LEGO theme has unexpectedly leapt to the top of my 2013 LEGO wishlist!
All of the LEGO Legends of Chima sets are now available for order, and can be ordered with free shipping and no tax in most states right here! I’ll be picking up a multitude of LEGO Legend of Chima sets on New Year’s Day and reviewing them throughout the first few weeks of the year. I’ll also update with my thoughts on the Legends of Chima series premiere once it airs.
