This weekend is going to be all about Star Wars, as the beloved May the 4th holiday weekend is about to begin! But today? Today is about something my wife has been waiting all of her life for (sort of), because today is the day that the Jurassic Park movies live again–in brick form! The street date has finally arrived, and the Summer 2015 LEGO Jurrasic World sets are now available online and in some stores!
See, while I think dinosaurs are sort of neat, my wife absolutely loves them. True story: my wife used to put her toy T-Rex in a stroller and roll it around instead of a baby doll as a child. She was also correcting museum guides on the pronunciation of dinosaurs’ names when she was four. Yeah–my wife loves her dinosaurs.
So even though I just like dinosaurs, there wasn’t a speck of doubt in my mind that I’d be buying all six of the LEGO Jurassic World sets for my wife. And so, I traversed over to Toys R Us and the LEGO Store first thing this morning was a couple hundred dollars burning a hole in my pocket.
I was definitely disappointed when I got to Toys R Us and discovered that not only did they only have three of the sets available, but they’d already been marked up by $2-$10 each. So as much as I like giving Toys R Us my money to help keep them in business, I vetoed that idea and headed over to the mall.
As expected, all six of the new sets were nestled on the shelf at the LEGO Store with a full stock of each one. I’ve previously discussed all of the half-dozen sets in this theme at length, so if you want to read the full details on each one, you can check out my LEGO Jurassic World articles right here.
The set that I was most excited to see in-stock was definitely the LEGO Raptor Escape set! This is the only retailer exclusive set in the Jurassic World theme, meaning that it will only be available directly from LEGO and from one other retail chain (presumably Target, but I don’t know for sure, as my Target didn’t have any Jurassic World sets available yet).
I was worried that I was going to have to wait a bit to complete our Raptor Squad, but it shan’t be a problem now! Raptors Echo and Charlie and the Raptor trainer Barry minifig have all come home! The 75920 Raptor Escape set was definitely my favorite purchase of the day!
The LEGO Jurassic Park sets are now available for order on Amazon with free shipping, and can also be found at the online and brick-and-mortar LEGO Store and some physical chain stores. None of my local Targets or Walmart had stocked the sets when I visited them this morning, but I presume the sets are all just sitting in the back and no one has thought to bring them out yet. Oy!
Did you go hunting for any Jurassic World LEGO sets today, dinosaur fans? Which of these Jurassic World sets–if any–are on your shopping list for the year?
The Raptor Escape set can be found at Walmart.
Ah, thanks! My Walmart will probably get around to getting these sets in about three weeks, so I’ll see the set there… eventually! =D
Toys R Us price matches if you show them either a print ad or website of a competitor on your phone (including target.com and lego.com), just a heads up! These sets look awesome, think I’ll have to search for them in my area tomorrow!
