As soon as it was announced that a LEGO Jurassic World video game was going to be released covering all four of the Jurassic Park movies, Jurassic Park series fans began daydreaming about what kind of exclusive promo figure would be used as a bonus incentive to tempt collectors to pre-order the video game. And while it’s not what anyone had predicted, today the official LEGO Jurassic World video game Twitter finally confirmed the free promo: LEGO Gallimimus Trap 30320!
That said, many fans still held out hope for a John Hammond minifigure, or even a Ian Malcolm or Alan Grant minifigure (my wife included–she had the biggest crush on Alan Grant when she was growing up!).
Hopefully the sales will be very strong on the Jurassic World sets and we’ll see some classic Jurassic Park sets sometime in 2016 (hopefully), because there are still loads of fun scenes, characters and dinosaurs that I would love to see captured in LEGO form.
The set includes a pretty rabid-looking LEGO Gallimimus dinosaur, along with a chunk of meat being used as bait in a trap. Modern paleontologists think it’s likely that Gallimimus was actually a herbivore, but apparently they’re wrong (or at least, that’s what the living Gallimimus dinosaurs in Jurassic World would lead us to believe)!
The LEGO 30320 Gallimimus Trap set will be available as a free bonus for pre-ordering the Jurassic World video game at Gamestop, although Gamestop has not yet posted the offer on their official website. They’ll likely update with information about the exclusive Jurassic World promo set later this week, so stay tuned. The video game is scheduled to be released on June 30th, 2015.
How do you like the Gallimimus Trap 30320 set, dinosaur fans? Are you happy that LEGO opted to give us an exclusive dinosaur figure as the free bonus with video game pre-order, or were you hoping for a classic Jurassic Park character as a minifigure like Alan Grant or John Hammond instead?
Maaan, all I ever wanted was a LEGO Ian Malcolm. If anyone does a giveaway with a minifigure of him that will almost guarantee a pre-order from me.
I would have spared no expense if the pre-order exclusive was John Hammond. Not a big fan of the jurassic world sets so far.
I feel disappointed in all these sets as they feel childish to me. Moreover, they don’t have anything to make them feel distinctly “Jurassic” franchise, they could easily just be a new LEGO generic dinosaur hunters line. Making the Gallimumus a carnivore is also confusing.
The Dino is the Same one as in the Dino theme right?
Maybey Lego meant that the meat was from the dino Galliwhatever and was made into a trap 4 the other dino?:P
I think you hit in right on the head, Peter! Good call! =D
Lol thx:P
No, because you can see on the character icon on the bottom that this dinosaur is gallimimus. This is pretty stupid since it is not a gallimimus but rather a celophysis. The should have made baby triceratops the preorder.
Same Dino as the Coelophysis from 2012 Dino theme. Although different paint.
Saw a dozen or so of these at TRU today for 3.99. FYI.
