Do you ever feel like your life is missing something–like, say, a camouflaging white LEGO dinosaur made up of the spliced DNA of a Tyrranosaurus Rex, a velociraptor, a cuttlefish and a snake? If so, rejoice–that void in your heart will finally be able to be filled next summer! The first of the LEGO Jurassic World dinosaurs–including the controversial D-Rex (Diabolus Rex) –have now been revealed!
And my, do unexpected things ever show up on Taobao! It happened with My Little Pony, it happened with Halo Mega Bloks, and now it’s happening with LEGO–images of some of the unannounced LEGO Jurassic World figures have now leaked onto the market via Taobao!
When it comes to dinosaurs that weren’t in Dinosaucers and who don’t turn into Transformers, I basically know squat. Luckily, my wife is a dinosaur nut (seriously–she corrected museum guides on the pronunciations of dinosaurs’ names when she was five), so she was able to explain to me exactly what I was looking at with these Jurassic World LEGO dinosaurs.
My wife let out a great big “Awwwww!” when she saw the crazy albino T-Rex figure (not exactly my reaction to it), which she then affirmed isn’t a real dinosaur at all–it’s a weird genetically modified LEGO D-Rex, based off one of the upcoming creatures from the Jurassic Park 4 Jurassic World movie. I was sort of hoping it was just an “Arctic T-Rex” that I could have face off with Arctic Batman, but in my personal canon, maybe he will be!
A plain old, regular orange and brown LEGO T-Rex is on the way as well. This isn’t the first time that a LEGO Tyrannosaur has been released, but the previous LEGO Dinosaurs are astronomically expensive on the aftermarket now, so this will be the first chance many newer LEGO collectors have at getting this iconic creature in LEGO figure form.
We can see from the Taobao photos that the Tyrannosaur LEGO dinosaur comes broken up into pieces that must be assembled (although he’ll obviously be a pretty quick build with just seven pieces to put together).
The most feared dinosaur in the Jurassic Park universe will also be making a comeback as part of the Jurassic World LEGO sets wave–the raptor! Apparently no one is sure what color raptors (or any other dinosaurs) were, so LEGO is wisely giving us a whole rainbow of LEGO raptor dinosaur figures to choose from!
So far we’ve got dark green, tan, orange and light green raptor models, but it’s possible that there will be other colorways to follow as well.
It looks like the LEGO Jurassic World raptors will have seven points of articulation: hinge jaw, swivel neck, swivel legs, swivel tail and swivel arms. That’s not too bad at all, especially when you consider that many LEGO animals have a big fat zero points of articulation built in!
Along with the LEGO Raptors and LEGO T-Rex figures, we’re also getting a LEGO Coelophysis. “Coelo-whatsis?” I’m told by my wife that the Coelophysis is a fairly well-known dinosaur that has been featured on the BBC and in various documentaries like “Walking with Dinosaurs” (which I’ve fallen asleep during on more than one occasion).
The LEGO Jurassic World sets are expected to be released sometime around Summer 2015, but no exact release date, pricing information or set contents lists are available yet. I’ll post an update to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page once more specific information regarding these sets is revealed.
What do you think of these first leaked dinosaurs from the LEGO Jurassic World theme, LEGO fans? Will you be purchasing any of the Jurassic Park sets in 2015 to grab these dinosaurs for your collections, or are you okay without an army of raptors and a white camouflaging T-Rex?
Has anyone gotten the rocket raccoon at tru because they told me they will have them for black Friday? I’m confused
I live on the Dallas area of Texas and I picked up two rocket raccoons yesterday.
The manager made it seem like TRU was supposed to have them out on the 16th but each store could be different.
Aww i still dont have one I live in Brownsville Texas by the way
