Well… this is certainly an unexpected surprise! When word broke that the 21303 Wall-E set had somehow slipped out and started being sold in some European stores, I suspected that we’d be hearing an official announcement rather soon regarding the official release date for the LEGO Ideas Wall-E set. But, well… while we have learned the release date for the Wall-E 21303 set, it’s not from the source that I was anticipating: the LEGO Wall-E set is now available for order online with free shipping!
Anyway, thanks to this early Amazon pre-order listing, we now know that the LEGO 21303 Wall-E set is scheduled for an official release on 9/1/2015. I wouldn’t be surprised if some Toys R Us stores that receive early shipments put the set on the shelves before the official release date, but I’d be astonished if the LEGO Store put Wall-E out early.
I don’t feel like running the risk of an early sell-out, though, so I just went ahead and ordered from Amazon with free shipping. It’ll make my September 1st that much more relaxing! Ha.
Oddly enough, the box and description for Wall-E don’t give the piece count for the kit, but they do give us plenty of other details. Here’s the official specs for the Disney-Pixar Wall-E LEGO set, care of the new product listing:
“Build, display and role play with WALL-E! Construct the LEGO Ideas version of WALL-E with posable neck, adjustable head and arms, gripping hands, opening trunk and rolling tracks. Build a beautifully detailed LEGO version of WALL-E -the last robot left on Earth! Created by Angus MacLane, an animator and director at Pixar Animation Studios, and selected by LEGO Ideas members, the development of this model began alongside the making of the lovable animated character for the classic Pixar feature film.
It has taken almost a decade to perfect the LEGO version, which incorporates many authentic WALL-E characteristics, including a posable neck, adjustable head, arms that move up and down and side to side, plus gripping hands and rolling tracks. With a trunk that opens and closes, you can tidy up the planet one pile of garbage at a time! This set also includes a booklet about the designer and the animated Pixar movie”

The LEGO Ideas Wall-E set is now available for pre-order, and is scheduled to ship out on September 1st, 2015. After only a new hours, Wall-E is already the #1 Best-Seller in the Building Toys category, so I have no doubt that he’s going to end up selling out pretty swiftly online.
What are your thoughts on the latest LEGO Ideas masterpiece, brick fans? Are you excited to see the most famous robot in Disney history immortalized in brick form and adding him to your collection, or will you be passing on this set due to price (or for some other reason)?
I wanted to see it too, but the link aren’t working, and I can’t find it on Amazon, either…
The links don’t work anymore because Wall-E has sold out. That said, I duplicated their product info and photos here on Bricks and Bloks, so you can see all of the details/pics available–you just can’t order it anymore. 🙂
Keep getting a 404 Error with the links you provided to Amazon.
Yup–that’s because LEGO Wall-E is now sold out for pre-orders and has been taken off the site. Hopefully Amazon will be allocated more stock before Wall-E’s official release.
I just noticed this but I’m not sure if it is but is that little black 2×1 plate with the antenna supposed to be his cockroach friend?
We now have a final piece count and price: 677 pieces for $49.99, which is an amazing value at just over 7 cents per piece!
Remember, this is a licensed set.
Heads up to all: I got this info from. LEGO store employee. Don’t buy a Wall-E set from anywhere but the LEGO store. Early releases at Amazon and other places have issues with the stability of Wall-E’s head. LEGO has postponed the official release until they re-engineer the neck/head mounting. I certainly wouldn’t spend the $$ being asked asked for on eBay. Wait a few
Weeks and you’ll have a perfect Wall-E from the LEGO store before Christmas!
