Considering that we’ve been getting some pretty killer LEGO Store exclusive seasonal sets for all of the most recent holidays, many collectors have been hopefully anticipating a 2015 Halloween Seasonal Set. And while it won’t be released in stores in mass for a few more days, the LEGO 40122 Halloween Trick or Treating set has now been revealed!
This is a pretty simplistic set including a house front decorated for Halloween (with an opening door), a skeleton and a trick-or-treating boy minifigure with a witch hat. The minifigure is a pretty huge disappointment–his (or is it “her”?) “witch” costume consists of a hat and a broomstick. Yay? Compared to the beautiful LEGO Series 14 Minifigures, this costumed child is really, really weak.
Sadly, the generic red bucket that TLG put in this set is also unspeakably lame compared to the awesome bucket seen in LEGO Minifigures Series 14. Oh well! I guess I’ll be picking up an extra Skeleton Guy minifigure to raid for parts! In fact, I may just toss this kid and his bucket straight into the box of generic minifigures and parts, as I’m just not into him.
At 133 pieces for $9.99, this Trick or Treat set is still a pretty good deal at about 7.5 cents per piece, but it definitely doesn’t capture my heart in the way that the recent Easter and Valentine’s Day sets did. I think this is easily the weakest of the LEGO seasonal sets that we’ve seen released in 2015, unfortunately. I’m not saying I’m not going to buy it, mind you–I am–but it’s just not as creative or compelling as any of the other seasonal goodies we’ve been treated to this year.
How do you think the Halloween Seasonal Set stacks up against the other recent holidays sets, brick fans? Will LEGO 40122 be on your shopping list?
Yep. Definitely buying multiple of these. True, the Easter egg coloring scene was much more imaginative, but still like this one.
