Ever have one of those days where several people have let you know about a LEGO set you haven’t heard of before, you then drive around for three hours fruitlessly searching for it, end up ordering said LEGO set online, and then have the realization that it’s a set from last year and you already own it…? That’s pretty much my day today in a nutshell, as I went on an epic failed quest to find the newly reissued LEGO Halloween Pumpkin 40055 set that was originally released in 2013!
I’d gotten messaged by a few folks about a new LEGO 40055 Halloween Pumpkin polybag set being released at Toys R Us stores. I looked at the images and they looked familiar, but I figured LEGO was just being cute and giving us a new version of the popular tradition that is Halloween pumpkins.
I wanted to see the LEGO Pumpkin 40055 set up-close for myself, so I decided to go driving from Toys R Us to Toys R Us until I found one. I came up short after spending more in gas than the cost of the polybag, so I got frustrated and ordered the 40055 LEGO Halloween Pumpkin set directly from Toys R Us online.
Then I discovered that not only was the 52-piece LEGO Halloween Pumpkin 40055 set released as a free promo in 2013, but I already have it in my box of Halloween decorations. Yipes! Even so, I guess I can always use more orange bricks, so I don’t regret ending up with an extra Halloween Pumpkin polybag set. I just wish that I wasn’t getting one because my memory braincells have totally fallen off a cliff.
The good news is, if you missed the Halloween Pumpkin LEGO polybag last year, you’ve got another chance! Toys R Us stores are now receiving shipments of either a new run of the set or last year’s leftovers, which they’ve priced at $5.99. Or–if you’re not near a Toys R Us store that has the LEGO Pumpkin set yet–Toys R Us has a limited quantity of the 40055 LEGO Halloween Pumpkin set up for sale online for the same $5.99!
It’s festive, it’s fun, and $5.99 isn’t a bad price for nearly 50 orange LEGO bricks at all. Anyone else out there planning to grab one of the newly-reissued LEGO Halloween Pumpkin sets while they’re back in circulation?
You didn’t see any because they’re street dated.
