Earlier this week, the first photo of a Summer 2014 LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy set leaked out from the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014. LEGO must have figured that the cat (or the raccoon, in this case) was well and truly out of the bag, as in advance of this weekend’s humongous New York Toy Fair 2014 event, LEGO has already allowed hi-res images to be posted of the Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO Marvel The Milano Ship Rescue 76021 set! It’s the largest and most expensive of the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets, and now we can see it before it’s fully revealed to the public at the 2014 New York Toy Fair!
As a longtime fan of the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy comic books (and an even longer-time fan of space adventurer/superhero Rocket Raccoon), I am well and truly psyched for this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie. But as excited as I am for that, I’m even more excited for the Guardians of the Galaxy toys!
The 76021 LEGO Murano is a very striking, almost bird-like spaceship with an eye-catching blue, yellow and grey color scheme. It’s piloted by the LEGO Gamora minifigure (the sole female member of the Guardians of the Galaxy), and you can see the LEGO Drax the Destroyer minifigure right behind Gamora in the cockpit of the Murano! Drax is, of course, played by WWE Superstar and former World Heavyweight Champion Batista!
In addition to the Murano and the LEGO Gamora and LEGO Drax minifigures, the LEGO 76021 Milano Ship Rescue set will also include a very small ship–the Milano–and three more minifigures. One of the minifigures is the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, the first-ever LEGO Starlord minifigure. The LEGO Star Lord figure looks sort of weird at a glance, but I think everyone will warm up to it when they grow accustomed to Star Lord’s appearance (and scary mask) in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
The LEGO Milano ship is piloted by a LEGO Sakaaran Soldier minifigure (basically, a generic bad guy).
Finally, the LEGO Ronan the Accuser Minifigure will depict the famous comic Marvel villain in LEGO form, although for the movies he’ll apparently be dressed in black instead of this classic green attire. The black makes him look a bit more Darth Vader-like than I’d prefer, but at least Ronan will still come packing his trademark hammer! I’ve no idea what the no-doubt evil silver ball Ronan is holding is, though.
The LEGO Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy The Milano Ship Rescue 76021 set will contain 665 pieces and will sell for $74.99 (about 11.3 cents per piece). LEGO 76021 and the other two LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets (LEGO 76019 and LEGO 76020) are scheduled to be released on June 1, 2014. I’ll post an update when more photos of the three Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO sets are available, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have more LEGO news, updates and photos sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed.
The LEGO Milano Ship Rescue set definitely has some spaceships the likes of which we’ve never seen before in LEGO form! Are you looking forward to this and the other GOTG LEGO Summer 2014 sets, LEGO fans?
That looks a LOT more like something for the eagle tribe in Chima. I had never heard of this “Guardians of the Galaxy” thing, but maybe that’s because I follow DC a bit more than Marvel, but oh well, it still looks sweet!
Love the ship, very much looking forward to the movie.
Can’t wait to see the Groot figure.
They need to make a Star Destroyer style Helicarrier set. It just needs to happen.
The Guardians’ spaceship is the Milano, while the smaller ship carrying Ronan is a Necrocraft.
