The rumors are true!! There really wasn’t much room for doubt after the Canadian Toys R Us website leaked the official product description for the set, but just in time for Halloween, TLG is confirming it: the long-requested LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters 75827 set is coming our way on January 1st, 2016! But while many fans had been hoping for something priced similarly to a standard Modular Building, the 75827 Firehouse Headquarters is going to be priced more like a SHIELD Helicarrier… *GULP*
Hope everyone who’s been wanting this set has been saving up, though, because it’s going to retail for a staggering $349.99! YIPES! Considering that this set contains 4,634 pieces, that price isn’t out of line at all–it’s actually a very strong value of 7.5 cents per piece. Even so, 350 bucks is 350 bucks, and I imagine that’s going to price out a lot of folks who were hoping for a smaller, more Modular Building-like price-point of $160-$200.
Wanting to make sure that their Ghostbusters Firehouse was as authentic as possible, on October 6th 2015 TLG sent a photographer to take photos comparing the prototype for the Ghostbusters Headquarters to the actual FDNY Firehouse that was used for the filming of the all-time classic movie! Wow–that’s dedication!!
The official description for the set is below:
Ages 16+. 4,634 pieces.

Based off of the early photos we’ve seen–which obviously don’t show everything this set has to offer–what do you think of the LEGO Firehouse Headquarters Ghostbusters set, brick fans? Are you ready to splurge and drop $350 on this set come January, or is that spooky price-tag creeping you out?
I so want this, but $350? Definitely worth it for over 4000 pieces, but it will definitely blow a whole in my 2016 Lego budget–especially if I want the Bank that is coming out. If I do buy, it definitely will be after January–after my budget has a chance to recover from the holidays. 🙂
