I can count the number of LEGO Friends sets that I own on a single hand, which is almost unheard of for me and any multiyear LEGO theme. But I have to be honest: I just don’t like minidolls. So as you might have guessed, it takes a lot for a Friends set to impress me. Even so, at the New York Toy Fair 2015, I was blown away by what may be the coolest addition to the theme ever: the Summer 2015 LEGO Friends Heartlake Grand Hotel 41101!
The highlight of this summer’s Friends sets for me was, hands-down, the LEGO 41101 Heartlake Grand Hotel (which, coincidentally, is the largest LEGO Friends 2015 set).
What common hotel features are replicated here in this hotel set, you ask? Well… You want a chandelier? It’s here. A grand piano? Present! Revolving doors? Yes, they’re here too! Elevator, luggage cart, taxi–they’re all here!!
Everything you’d anticipate finding in a classy hotel is accounted for in this set, and I love it!
The sheer size of this set simply makes it feel far more special than the usual Friends sets, while the attention to detail on both the exterior and interior of the hotel are phenomenal. If this isn’t the best LEGO Friends set ever, I don’t know what is!
The LEGO Heartlake Grand Hotel 41101 set includes a whopping five minifigures (which is a pretty substantial number for a Friends set):
- Susan
- Olivia
- Stephanie
- Andrea
- Nate
While we have countless dolls of Olivia, Stephanie and Andrea already, two of the figures in this set are actually exclusives. I’m always pleased to see more LEGO Friends boys included, so Nate the Bellhop is the highlight of this minidoll selection for me. And as he’s a Bellhop, I doubt that we’ll ever see Nate released again! The Susan minidoll is another all-new character exclusive to this set.
You might expect this immense LEGO Friends Summer 2015 set to come with an equally immense price-tag. And you would be right (although perhaps not as right as you’d think). LEGO 41101 contains 1,555 pieces for just $129.99–barely over 8 cents per price! For such a spectacular-looking set, that’s quite a value!
The 41101 Heartlake Grand Hotel LEGO Friends set is scheduled for release in August 2015 (with early shipments likely to arrive in July 2015). I’ll be posting photos, sightings and information regarding the remaining LEGO Friends 2015 Summer sets as well, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed!
How do you like the 41101 LEGO Friends Heartlake Grand Hotel, among the largest Friends sets ever produced, LEGO fans? Does this colossal hotel pique your interest, or is a $125+, 1500+ piece Friends set just not for you?
I find all the pink and lavender in the Friends sets nauseating, not to mention outright sexist. Not every little girl likes pink and lavender, but apparently Lego executives think so. But they aren’t the only ones–I have the same issues with all the Barbie doll stuff as well. The colors for “girl’s” toys in the1960s thru the ’80s was way cooler than anything you can find now. (Heck, I had a red sports car for my dolls, now you can only get pink!!)
But that being said, I may buy the above, but only if I know I have enough pieces to substitute for the pink and lavender. I mean, really, how would this fit in with any other set you had if you were trying to make a city scene of some sort? The colors just make it look really tacky–either from a “run down” part of town, or worse!!
I think this is a great looking set. If you would like dark basic colors you can get the creative one. I love the new colors. that is what is so great about Lego friends. It’s a girl and a young boy toy .They can play together. I use The City Lego, and Jr. sets together. It’s all fun !
