Earlier this week I talked about what is almost unquestionably going to be the most-demanded and hottest-selling LEGO set of Winter 2015, the LEGO Frozen Elsa’s Sparkling Palace 41062 set. But while that’s certainly the most high-profile LEGO Disney Princess set that LEGO has ever released, it’s definitely not the only set coming from that theme in January 2015. In fact, there’s three more LEGO Disney Princess 2015 sets on the horizon, including the first appearances of LEGO Aurora from Sleeping Beauty and LEGO Jasmine from Aladdin!
2015 LEGO Disney Princess Jasmine’s Exotic Palace 41061
Make no mistake–the Frozen LEGO set is a big deal. But it’s not the only big deal coming for the LEGO Disney Princess line in 2015–LEGO has a trio of other great sets lined up for us as well!
The set includes (technically) three LEGO Aladdin figures: the first LEGO Princess Jasmine minifigure, a little LEGO Rajah tiger figure, and a LEGO Magic Carpet “figure” (yes, Magic Carpet counts as a character). I would love a larger LEGO Aladdin set someday with more of Agrabah represented, so hopefully this set does well enough to encourage LEGO to produce a mega-sized Aladdin LEGO set in a future year.
LEGO 2015 Ariel’s Undersea Palace 41063
And speaking of mega-sized sets, the “big” entry in the LEGO 2015 Disney Princess sets theme is the LEGO 41063 Ariel’s Undersea Palace set. While the set only contains 379 pieces, it looks enormous compared to the other LEGO Disney Princess 2015 sets being released, largely due to the design and a number of large pieces being included in the set.
I really like the look of this LEGO Little Mermaid palace set, and I’m excited that this set will finally introduce the first-ever LEGO Sebastian figure, along with the debut figure of Ariel’s sister, the LEGO Alana figure. The LEGO Friends dolphin figure mold also makes an appearance here, now in blue!
As an impulse set, I think LEGO 41060 Sleeping Beauty’s Royal bedroom will sell great. Any larger or more expensive and I fear a set centered on Aurora would have ended up gathering dust on the shelves.
All three LEGO Disney Princess 2015 sets will be available online and in stores by January 2015. I fully expect these sets to hit before Christmas in some locations, however, so if you’re hoping to grab some of these sets as holiday presents, stay tuned to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page for alerts on when and where these new LEGO Disney Princess sets are released early.
Does the rest of the 2015 LEGO Disney Princess sets wave meet your expectations, LEGO fans? Will any of these sets be joining your family’s LEGO Disney kindgom in winter 2015?
Nice review, and I agree with most of your comments. However, I don’t agree with your assessment that Aurora is not as popular as the other princesses. In fact, I would say that Jasmine is the least popular. Just walk into a Disney store and look at the merchandise on sale. That will tell you which franchises are moving merchandise.
Also, with Aurora, you have the opportunity to introduce a classic castle, a rickety shack in the woods, and a big black dragon! And when will TLG introduce the ‘bad guys’ into the Disney sets? Have they done that yet? Maleficent would be a great character to include in a future Lego set.
I have no idea what’s moving merchandise these days or who’s getting the most attention now that Disney is doing all sorts of new things with their full line up of “Princesses”, but at least back in the day, Aladdin spawned two direct to video sequels and a full Disney Afternoon TV series that was quite good.
Out of the old, pre-Little Mermaid princess movies, if you ask people to name them I’m sure Snow White and Cinderella lead out Sleeping Beauty by far, and I think even before the Angelina Jolie movie, people remember it more for Maleficent than Aurora.
And Sleeping Beauty has had a recent DVD re-launch I think. So her popularity will be higher now
What Aurora not púopular? Must be kidding right she has so many movies incomparison to the rest … 😉
It can’t be over $100+ for 379 pieces, Lego is starting to get really expensive and greedy.
