When the blurry images of the complete lineup of LEGO Dimensions Series 1 minifigures and packs leaked out, the one rumored inclusion that really made me raise an eyebrow was the LEGO Portal set. I was genuinely skeptical that a licensed LEGO Dimensions Portal pack was real–but as it turns out, it is! And not only is Portal coming to LEGO Dimensions–so are LEGO Doctor Who, Scooby-Doo, Simpsons and more!
Luckily, those three experiences have (sort of) prepared me for this newly-revealed 71203 LEGO Dimensions Portal 2 set, which will include a Chell Minifigure, a brick-built Companion Cube and a brick-built Sentry Turret!
The Portal 2 Level Pack 71203 set will not only include these three “characters” (I’m not sure if the Sentry and Cube count as actual characters, but let’s pretend they do), but buying the set also unlocks an exclusive Portal 2 level in the LEGO Dimensions video game. From what I’ve heard about the Portal franchise, this is likely to be a level unlike anything we’ve seen in a LEGO video game before!
But that’s not all! Two other Dimensions LEGO packs were revealed (in addition to the previously-shown 71201 Back to the Future Level Pack), and all of these sets are going to be hot sellers.
First, we’ve got the LEGO Dimensions Simpsons Level Pack 71202! The Simpsons have never had their own LEGO video game (and are unlikely to ever have one), so I’m totally tickled to see a Dimensions Simpsons level!
The LEGO Simpsons Dimensions pack will include a Homer Simpson Minifigure, a brick-built Simpsons car and a brick-built TV set (playing the Itchy & Scratchy Show)! I think the TV is an odd choice for an accessory, but perhaps there’ll be some interesting gameplay that utilizes it.
Last–but not least–it’s the LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who Level Pack 71204! Like Portal, I know diddly about Doctor Who beyond “Exterminate!!” and the existence of many different doctors. Both of those elements are present in this set, which include a LEGO Tardis, a K-9 and a LEGO Peter Capaldi Doctor Who Minifigure.
Many of the LEGO Dimensions sets are now available for order, with the starter pack and expansion sets arriving in fall 2015. You can pre-order most of the sets now, which may be a wise move–I have a hunch LEGO Dimensions is going to blow away all retail expectations.
What do you think of the three newly-revealed LEGO Dimensions Level Packs, brick fans? Of the four level packs, which ones (if any) will you be buying, and which is your favorite?
Not to be a nitpicker, but the character himself isn’t ‘Doctor Who’, outside the US produced films which starred Peter Cushing (aka Grand Moff Tarkin!) in the role.
Im sure alot of plpl r gona go nuts 4 these things!! (I have no knowledge of anything Doctor who or portal too:P)
My God man, play some Portal 2, greatest game ever made!!!
