Of the various themes chosen for the first series of LEGO Dimensions sets, the theme that’s generating the most excitement is definitely the inaugural Wizard of Oz set. But some of the other sets are no slouches in the anticipation department either, and the next most buzz-worthy set brings us back once again… to the future! For the first time ever, a LEGO Back to the Future set will be available outside of the Ideas theme, and you can lock yours in now: the LEGO Dimensions Back to the Future Level Pack 71201 is now up for order!
LEGO Dimensions will be taking us back to Hill Valley again, as there will be an entire level of the game–“A Hill Valley Time Travel Adventure”–that will only be unlockable by purchasing the Dimensions Back to the Future Level Pack 71201!
But it’s not just video game content that you get with your purchase, of course–you also get three very cool physical goodies that are what’s going to sell this set to most collectors: a mini Delorean Time Machine build, a proper pink future hoverboard build (not the awful pink skateboard that came with LEGO 21103), and a Marty McFly minifigure with red guitar!
I am super-excited for all of the printed details on the Back to the Future 2 Hoverboard, especially considering that we just got a plain old skateboard with the Ideas Back to the Future set.
Any of these little builds would have made for great polybags, but if this LEGO Dimensions expansion pack is the only way to get them, then so be it!
The LEGO 71201 Back to the Future Level Pack is now available for pre-order, and is scheduled to be released on September 27, 2015. Given how quickly the LEGO Ideas Back to the Future set sold out for the first several months that it was available, I could definitely see a repeat performance with this level pack.
Are you on-board for the first LEGO hoverboard, mini Delorean Time Machine, and Back to the Future Level content in LEGO Dimensions, Back to the Future fans? Does this set offer a good enough mixture of physical and in-game toys to get your blood pumping, or will you be passing on the sure-to-be best-selling Back to the Future Level Pack?
Look at the way the doors are built on the DeLorean–they’ll be able to swing up!
I didn’t notice that before! Awesome!! Good eyes, Doug!
Nice printing on dat hoverboard!!!

Is the hover board really printed? You can almost see the edges of the sticker..
