Photos leaked out months and months ago revealing a previously-unannounced LEGO Cosmic Boy minifigure, representing one of the three founding members of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Ever since the Lightning Lad minifigure shipped with the Target exclusive cube a few weeks back, we wondered when the first of his fellow Legionnaires would join him. And now we know: the LEGO DC Justice League Cosmic Clash DVD with Cosmic Boy minifigure is now up for order!
With the Legion having a bit of a niche fandom, I never, ever imagined they’d appear in brick form–but in 2015-2016, that’s exactly what’s occurring! The Lightning Lad minifig has already been released and we’ve seen the prototype of Saturn Girl–and now we can finally pre-order Cosmic Boy!
The LEGO Cosmic Boy minifig will be available exclusive as part of a set with LEGO Justice League: Cosmic Clash, the newest in the series of original Justice League animated movies.
These DC Animated movies are always a good time and I’d buy them even if they didn’t include a free DC Super Heroes figure–but I’m double excited to buy them because they do include one!
The plot for this movie seems to be about the villain Brainiac scattering members of the Justice League across space-time, where they’ll most likely meet the Legionnaires in the 30th century (not mention the fact that The Flash is apparently going to be running into some raptors that look suspiciously like Echo and Charlie from the Jurassic World theme!). This seems a little weird to me (particularly since Brainiac 5 is a core member of every iteration of the Legion), but I’m going to trust that Warner Bros. has a great story planned for us here!
The LEGO DC Justice League Cosmic Clash DVD with Cosmic Boy minifigure is now available for pre-order, and is scheduled to be released on March 1st 2016. I know better than to ever pay full price for these DVD sets, and I’m content to lock in my pre-order at Amazon’s discounted rate with low-proce guarantee (wherein if the price ever drops before this set ships, Amazon automatically lowers the price on my order).
I’m totally psyched about the Legion arriving in brick form–but what about you, LEGO DC fans? Are you happy to see these cult characters available, or are there more mainstream DC Comics characters you’d have preferred for your collection first?
The accessories for that figure look fantastic. After picking up Lightning Lad, I’m looking forward to expanding my Legion of Super-Heroes roster.
