Generally speaking, my greatest LEGO theme loves tend to be action-oriented themes such as LEGO Chima and licensed themes like LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Harry Potter. Don’t get me wrong–I really do enjoy the classics like LEGO City, but rarely am I more excited about an upcoming LEGO City set than anything in the licensed themes. At the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2015, however, LEGO allowed photos for the first time of a set that’s topping my LEGO Summer 2015 sets wish list right now: the amazing LEGO City Town Square 60097!
The number of components to the LEGO Town Square 60097 is downright overwhelming, so let me try to list off the entire contents of the set as bullet points:
- Brick-Built LEGO Store
- LEGO Store Delivery Truck
- Public Transit Tram (Two Car)
- Repair Truck / Tow Truck
- Coffee / Concession Stands
- Public Transit Station with Tree
- Street Vendor Cart
- Garage
- Pizza Delivery Scooter
- Newspaper Stand
- Red and Yellow Cars
- Helicopter
- LEGO Store Delivery Man Minifigure
- 14 Total Minifigures
In short, this is one packed Summer 2015 LEGO City set!
The highlight of this set for me–and I suspect the majority of other folks as well–is the new LEGO tram! This new tram just looks super-cool, and it’s even in my favorite color scheme of orange and black! I love that the sides of the tram are fully translucent so you can look inside and see the chair and passengers, as well as the “bikes” logo on the middle that makes it clear that bikes are welcome on this public transit. For me, this is the selling-point that is going to make me shell out $100+.
The LEGO City Playmat shown in the display is sadly not included with this set, but they’re pretty cheaply and easily available on their own, and definitely will add a unifying element to this set when it’s all out on display. Without the playmat, the various components of this set such as the repair shop garage and the concession stands end up feeling a lot more random.
The 60097 LEGO City Town Square set is scheduled to be released in June/July 2015, with a UK retail price of £140. The number of pieces included and U.S. price-point are presently unknown, but I’ll try to get those details when I visit the LEGO Booth at New York Toy Fair 2015 on February 13th, 2015, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have photos and updates sent directly to your Facebook Newsfeed!
What do you think of the LEGO City Summer 2015 Town Square set, LEGO fans? Are you excited to add elements like the tram and LEGO Store to your displays, or are you unimpressed with this fully-loaded LEGO City set?
Is marvel at the fair?
LEGO Marvel sets aren’t allowed to be photographed at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. I’ll take photos of them in New York next month when photos are allowed at the NY Toy Fair.
Do you need a company to go
Yep. New York Toy Fair is only for professionals and not the public.
Do you have a company? Because I know a friend who goes and doesn’t have a company.
I’m press.
So lets say a guy has a youtube channel/website.. would he be able to go?
Can’t wait to get this one!
Can someone explain something to me? Lego already had a Town Square (60026 Town Square). So, is “Town Square” a sub-theme within the City Theme? Are the pieces from one supposed to fit in or extend with the other? For example, I see this set has a Pizza Delivery Scooter and the last set had a pizzeria. Just wondering….
