Yesterday I took a look at the Summer 2014 LEGO City High-Speed Passenger Train set, which will win over many train aficionados with its sleekness and modern appearance. But what about those who like their model trains to look a little bit less contemporary and a little more classical…? Fear not, old-time LEGO train fans! The High Speed Passenger Train 60051 isn’t the only LEGO train we’ll be getting this summer–the LEGO City Cargo Train 60052 will be pulling into the station in just a few months as well!
LEGO has recognized that that type of train isn’t for everyone as well, as they’re got a second 2014 LEGO train set lined up for release this summer–the LEGO Cargo Train 60052!
You get four minifigures with this LEGO 60052 Cargo Train set: a LEGO forklift driver minifigure, a LEGO Train Driver minifigure, a LEGO Farmer and a LEGO Truck driver. There aren’t any civilian passengers included with the set this time around because, well… this just isn’t that type of train! As such, for this particular train, a special LEGO Cargo Train Station is included with the set, so you won’t have to buy it on the side.
The 60052 LEGO City Cargo Train is another set that can’t have the usual “price-per-brick” rules applied to it, thanks to the advanced technological features of the included infrared remote control. Ordinarily 888 pieces for $199.99 would have to otherwise be considered a horrific value (over 22 cents per piece!), but you just can’t compare this time of LEGO train set to a regular LEGO set–it’s like comparing apples to caviar.
The LEGO City Cargo Train 60052 is part of the LEGO City Summer 2014 sets wave, and is expected to begin arriving in stores in May/June 2014. Like the High-Speed Passenger Train LEGO set, I anticipate there being massive demand for this set, so it may be tough to find when it first hits stores. I’ll post an update to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook page once the 60052 LEGO Cargo Train is spotted in stores.
Compare and contrast time, LEGO fans! Which of the LEGO 2014 Trains do you prefer: the LEGO 60052 Cargo Train or the LEGO 60051 High-Speed Passenger Train? Which train–if either–will be finding its way into your LEGO collection later this year?
I am looking for trouble shooting guide for 60052 City train set. Can not get to run on battery.
