The LEGO Legends of Chima Summer 2014 sets have yet to reach the shores of the United States and many other countries, but LEGO is really starting to crank things into high gear to get Chima collectors excited for the Summer 2014 LEGO Chima Fire vs. Ice theme! Not only did we learn about the upcoming LEGO Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike polybag promo earlier this week, but now the LEGO Sykor’s Ice Cruiser 30266 set has unexpectedly surfaced for sale online! On the bright side, this LEGO 30266 set looks to include an exclusive minifigure. On the downside, this set may end up being a hard-to-get exclusive itself…

LEGO Legends of Chima didn’t have a whole lot of polybag sets released in the first half of 2014, but that trend is definitely not going to carry over to the latter portion of the year. Last week the August 2014 LEGO Store Calendar revealed the LEGO Worriz Fire Bike 30265 polybag promo set that will be a free promotional item in the United States from the end of August 2014 through September 2014.

In addition to the Worriz Fire Bike, we’re also waiting to hear when and where Frax’s Phoenix Flyer 30264 set will be released in North America.

This release does not come as a total surprise, as LEGO had previously posted the instructions for the set online, but the set hadn’t been officially announced by LEGO (despite their posting the instructions online for the world to see).

But while we can add another LEGO Chima poybag set to the list of 2014 releases, we know exactly when and where this set is going to be up for sale–because it already is! The 30266 LEGO Sykor’s Ice Cruiser set has turned up at LEGOLand locations in the United States in Florida, California and Illinois. As the moment, it appears that this set is exclusive to the LEGOLand stores (at least for now).

This obviously poses a problem, as the vast majority of LEGO collectors don’t live near a LEGO Land location. Complicating matters is the fact that the Sabertooth Tribe LEGO Skyor minifigure is scheduled to appear exclusively in this set at this time. So if you want to have a complete set of the LEGO Chima Saber-tooth Tribe minifigures coming out this summer, you’re probably going to have to hunt this polybag set down. Fun, right?

I doubt that many LEGO fans are going to shed tears if they don’t get the LEGO Chima Ice Cruiser vehicle itself (which is a pretty simplistic build), but I know a lot of fans are going to want the Sykor Sabre-tooth Tribe minifigure.

Several online sellers are already selling their LEGO 30266 Sykor’s Ice Cruiser polybag sets right now (at inflated prices), but I’m waiting to see if my own Boston LEGOLand Discovery Center carries this polybag promo set before I shell out aftermarket dollars for it. Hopefully this set does end up getting wider distribution than what it has right now, though I strongly doubt it’ll be a free promo at the LEGO Stores themselves in 2014.
