One of my personal favorite LEGO themes will be entering its third year in 2015, and LEGO has some great things planned to celebrate the event! Though the LEGO Legends of Chima theme met with a lot of harsh opposition to begin with (especially from those who felt like it was going to replace LEGO Ninjago), LEGO Chima has persevered. And LEGO has some big things planned for the third year of LEGO Legends of Chima, as the LEGO Chima 2015 sets will include the first-ever Tiger Tribe vehicle, long-demanded Tribe Minifigure Packs and the much-anticipated debut of Chima Bear Tribe Minifigures!
The main winter LEGO 2015 Legends of Chima sets are as follows:
- LEGO Chima Strainor’s Saber Cycle Strainor 70220
- LEGO Chima Flinx’s Ultimate Phoenix Flinx 70221
- LEGO Chima Tormak’s Shadow Blazer Tormak 70222
- LEGO Chima Icebite’s Claw Driller 70223
- LEGO Chima Tiger’s Mobile Command 70224
Photos of these sets haven’t been approved yet by LEGO, but based on the prototype photos I’ve seen, there are some real gems in this set.
The 70223 LEGO Icebite’s Claw Driller mech is a fantastic-looking exo-suit that blows away the previous Gorzan’s Gorilla Striker. The 70221 LEGO Flinx’s Ultimate Phoenix set looks absolutely gorgeous, and 70224 Tiger’s Mobile Command is an impressively-orange humongous tank set. It’s also going to be awesome to get a black LEGO Panthar minifigure version of Tormak as part of LEGO 70222.
In addition to those five basic 2015 LEGO Chima sets, three LEGO Legends of Chima Winter 2015 sets are likely to be retailer exclusives only available at specific stores. Those sets are:
- LEGO Chima Cragger’s Croc-copter 70225
- LEGO Chima Mammoth Ice Base 70226
- LEGO Chima Bladvic’s Bear Mech 70227
These three sets I haven’t seen any prototype photos of yet, but I anticipate that the 70227 LEGO Chima Bladvic’s Bear Mech set will be our best chance to get a female Bear Tribe LEGO minifigure. I’ve got a weakness for ice-themed LEGO sets, so the LEGO 70267 Mammoth Ice Base is a likely purchase for me if it looks even halfway decent, but the 70225 LEGO Cragger’s Croc-Cooter will have to look astonishingly good to get me to buy yet another vehicle for Cragger.
The five tribes selected for the inaugural LEGO Chima Tribe Packs are:
- LEGO Chima Lion Tribe Pack 70229
- LEGO Chima Bear Tribe Pack 70230
- LEGO Chima Crocodile Tribe Pack 70231
- LEGO Chima Saber-Tooth Tiger Tribe Pack 70232
- LEGO Chima Elephant Tribe Pack 70233
As of now, LEGO has not approved even a single image of the LEGO Chima 2015 sets to be posted online. I’ll post an update once images and more specific details regarding each sets are available, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news and photos beamed right to your Facebook Newsfeed!
Are you looking forward to the announced LEGO Legends of Chima 2015 sets, LEGO fans? Are you interested in the new assortment of minifigure-centric LEGO Chima Tribe Packs, or would you have preferred that LEGO continue to focus on other Chima concepts like Speedorz and Legend Beasts instead?
Your post made my day…I just got back from TRU yesterday depressed because I really love the Chima sets but I have bought ALL of them, and just yesterday aquired the mini-bag set of Sykor, that crazy dog-like Saber-Tooth wolf that is attached to Strainor by a leash. (in the series) That was the very last of the new Chima that I could buy….I was tempted to get a duplicate of Lavals’ Fire Lion out of desperation for something to buid with my son. So your post is a dream come true!!!!! I have to say that I really wish others could have seen or purchase the new Ultrabuilds, they are soooooo much better than the first seasons Ultrabuilds that were (and still are) available in the US. Did you happen to get those Ultrabuilds? You would be impressed, especially with Sir Fangar and Panthar; very very well done in my opinion. Keep me posted on any new release dates; I would dive at the chance to buy even one of these new and totally awesome sets for Christmas, even on eBay if necessary.
Hope to hear from you soon!

Interesting. I never see kids buying Chima sets at the Lego store and the market seems pretty dead on ebay so I assumed this theme was a failure. Maybe it is more popular outside of the USA?
I wonder if you could swap out parts of these to customise Star Wars woks?
well, I can say that here in Germany it is popular and especially the big kits like the Lion temple go for big money on Ebay due to the production stop, my kids love chima (and me as a dad does so too)
