A lot of people give the LEGO Legends of Chima theme a hard time, but I like the concept of warring animal tribes plenty. Even so, I was getting a bit bored after seeing crocodile-themed and wolf-themed sets on store shelves all year. Luckily, LEGO is giving the LEGO Legends of Chima 2014 sets an infusion of new blood and new style with new animal tribes next year! And seeing the first Chima Scorpion Tribe set, the 2014 LEGO Chima Scorm’s Scorpion Stinger 70132, has remedied any malaise toward Chima that I was feeling!

Whether you love LEGO Legends of Chima or hate it, no one can deny that sometimes LEGO comes up with some cool sets for this theme. And the largest one of the LEGO Chima Winter 2014 sets is absolutely, no questions asked, one of the coolest LEGO sets coming in 2014!

Just how formidable of opponents are the new Scorpion Tribe members? Well, you have to figure that things must be pretty bleak if the Lion Tribe and Crocodile Tribe are teaming up, as we see here on the LEGO 70132 Scorm’s Scorpion Stinger box art!

Scorm’s Scorpion Stinger itself looks slick and deadly in its black and neon green color scheme, easily ranking as one of the more terrifying vehicles I can ever remember LEGO producing from any theme. The pinching claws look sharp and capable of eviscerating any unsuspecting animal tribe minifigures, and even the big green balls it shoots look kind of neat to me. This is one of the more impressive all-around LEGO Chima sets that LEGO has ever done, in my opinion. It’s a pity the Bat Tribe and Spider Tribe don’t get anything this cool for themselves!

Sadly, the LEGO Chima Scorm’s Scorpion Stinger 70132 set only includes three minifigures, and two of them are characters that any Chima fan already has (and perhaps has multiples of at that): a new Scorpion Tribe LEGO Scorm Minifigure, along with repacks of the Lion Tribe Laval minifigure and Crocodile Tribe Cragger minifigure.

70132 LEGO Scorm’s Scorpion Stinger is presently the only LEGO Legends of Chima 2014 set scheduled to include the Scorm minifigure, however, so if you want him you’re going to have to buy this set to get him.

The LEGO 2014 Legends of Chima Scorm’s Scoprion Stinger 70132 set should be released in stores by 1/1/2014. I fully expect the set to leak out to some retailers before Christmas, however, so stay tuned if you’re hoping to snipe this set early to give to a loved one (or yourself!) as a surprise Christmas present.
