Now that things have slowed down and I’ve had a chance to sort through the thousands of photos I took at the 2015 New York Toy Fair, it’s time for coverage to continue! While I talked about the spectacular LEGO Jokerland 76035 set a few weeks back, there was one more LEGO Batman Summer 2015 set publicly on display for the first time at the 2015 Toy Fair: the LEGO Batboat Harbor Pursuit 76034!
But while not every new DC LEGO Super Heroes set will follow the tried-and-true formula of including a Bat-vehicle with Batman and villain figures, that’s not to say that some won’t. And this summer, we’ll be falling back on that classic recipe for the 76034 Batboat Harbor Pursuit LEGO Batman set!
The major selling point in this set for me is my second favorite villain in the DC Universe: Deathstroke! While I haven’t really gotten into the Arrow TV Series in the way that many fans have, I’ve always appreciated Deathstroke as the deadliest, baddest dude in the DCU.
So put the first-ever LEGO Deathstroke minifigure exclusively in a $29.99 set? Yeah, you’ve got my dollars, LEGO.
Of course, Deathstroke won’t be going into battle unarmed–he’ll be carrying a deadly sword to fight hand-to-hand in, and even comes with his (conspicuously-colored) orange and blue hydrofoil! I don’t think Deathstroke would actually drive a vehicle this color, but it’s fun, so I’ll take it.
The box art seems to indicate that Deathstroke’s boat has some sort of grappling hook action or something of the sort, but it just looks like a box with a chain on it to me. I’m really not sure what to make of this particular weapon (if it is a weapon), to be honest!
Of course, there’s more to this Summer 2015 LEGO The Batboat Pursuit set than just the Deathstroke figure and his ride. The other two minifigures included are Batman and what I believe is a new version of a LEGO Robin minifigure. That is one angry-looking Robin figure, that’s for sure!
The 2015 LEGO Batboat itself is actually a very cool vehicle, and I like the dual cockpit design of the boat quite a bit. The Bat-boat looks like it still features flickfire missiles instead of the modern spring-loaded missiles, unfortunately, but it’s a nice-looking vehicle nonetheless.
I didn’t have the opportunity to ask anyone at the LEGO Group at the event if the Batboat LEGO vehicle would really be able to float or not. I somehow doubt that it can, but float-ability is a feature that I think plenty of kids would adore for this particular set! Nothing says bath-time fun like Batman and Robin vs. Deathstroke, right?!
There are a good number of oversized pieces in this set that probably cost a bit more than your standard brick, so I think that LEGO has done a pretty fair job with pricing for the 76034 Batboat Harbor Pursuit, even if the cost-per-piece does run slightly higher than my ideal price-point of 10 cents or less.
What do you think of the final LEGO Batman 2015 set, Bat-fans? Will you be picking this set up for the new Batboat or the exclusive Deathstroke minifig, or will you be saving $30 later on this year?
Deathstroke is awesome! (althogh i wish they gave him a new helmet peice but whatever). Also the chain with box looks like the box is a safe and the chain is being used to pull it:P
I will certainly be picking up this set as it is affordable for what the set includes. 3 minifigs, 1.5 vehicles, sounds like a good investment to me.
is that a batman mask without a chin strap?!
Oh wow, its New 52 Dick Grayson Robin! Even though I’m not a fan of that costume, still glad for a new Robin! rest of the set looks AWESOME, Deathstroke minifig is welcome and his color appropriate jet ski is pretty neat.
U know this is the first time EVER that lego makes a dick grayson robin?;D
