I was looking over the previews I’d written for the fast-approaching LEGO Winter 2014 sets and was surprised to see that I’d skipped one of the LEGO Batman 2014 sets, despite the fact that there are only four new sets coming out! Considering that the set I skipped discussing is also the one that I like best of the 2014 LEGO Superheroes winter wave, I figured I’d better remedy that. Let’s talk about the LEGO Batman Man-Bat Attack 76011 set!
Seeing as how the first LEGO Batman video game came out in 2008 and we’ve been getting LEGO Batman sets since even before then, you would think a villain as recognizable as Man-Bat would have already been produced in minifigure form. That’s just not so, though–Man-Bat is probably the single most prominent Batman villain who hadn’t received a LEGO minifigure yet–at least, he will be for a few more weeks!
While I have to admit that I’ve never read a truly great Manbat story, Man-Bat is still undisputedly among Batman’s greatest and most famous villains, and well-deserving of an official LEGO minifigure. The actual LEGO Man-Bat minifigure is a complete repaint of the 2012 LEGO Monster Fighters Manbat figure, but Man-Bat looks pretty terrific nonetheless–it’s like LEGO designed the Monster Fighters Manbat with Batman Man-Bat in mind!
In addition to Man-Bat, the set will also give us our first-ever New 52 Nightwing LEGO minifigure in his black and red costume! I really love the modern Nightwing costume, and the brick-built glider that’s designed to look like the Nightwing symbol makes for a very cool accessory.
The main portion of the 76011 LEGO Batman: Man-Bat Attack is not the minifigures, of course, but the LEGO Bat-Copter! The LEGO Batcopter vehicle looks sleek and well-designed, and frankly a lot better looking than the other Batman vehicles that are part of the winter 2014 LEGO sets wave. I could do without the flickfire missiles, of course, but even those look pretty nice this-time out set against the darker colors of the Bat-Copter.
The LEGO 76011 Batman: Man-Bat Attack set is scheduled to be released by January 1st 2014, with a suggested retail price of $19.99. The set contains 184 pieces, including the three minifigures enclosed. You can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to receive an update once this set goes up for sale, as well as further LEGO news, photos and reviews!
What do you think of the LEGO 2014 Batman Man-Bat Attack 76011 set, LEGO fans? Is this your favorite of the winter 2014 Batman LEGO sets, or has another one of the sets in the wave captured your heart?
