Toys R Us has been working hard to lure LEGO customers in their stores all month long with their exclusive Mini Modular Building LEGO Bricktober 2014 free promo giveaways, and now they’ve got another big event planned to drive in buyers this weekend–a totally free Bricktober Build! With LEGO Batman mania at a fever pitch after The LEGO Movie and with LEGO Batman 3 set to hit stores in under a month, Toys R Us is ready to cash in with a free LEGO Bat Signal set build this weekend!
Never fully trusting the news in the Toys R Us E-Mails, I decided to take a short 30-minute drive up to my nearest Toys R Us to verify the details of the event with a Toys R Us employee. And good news–as you might expect from a heavily-promoted event: it’s real!
The LEGO Batsignal set build will take place exclusively at participating Toys R Us stores on Saturday, October 18 2014 from noon to 2PM. Each store is only receiving a limited number of sets, so while the event does technically run until 2:00, I’d advise getting to your store early to ensure that they don’t run out of LEGO Bricktober Bat Signal builds before you get to make your own.
Despite being an iconic part of the Batman mythos, we don’t get Bat Signal toys very often at all, so I think it was a pretty great idea to offer this LEGO Batsignal build free as a part of the 2014 Bricktober Toys R Us events.
Unfortunately, this is yet another LEGO free build event that’s only meant for children. While most of the promotional materials leave out the word “kids”, the event is officially intended to be only for kids.
I was able to get a promo build from Toys R Us last year because I asked politely, but I was given an epic stink-eye from the employees for asking. So whether or not we adults will be allowed to indulge in the LEGO Bat Signal set will be completely up to the kindness of the employees at our local Toys R Us stores.
Who’s excited to build (or take their children to build) the LEGO Bat-Signal at Toys R Us this weekend? If you’re too old to participate, will you be trying to grab this exclusive on the aftermarket, or are you not all that interested?
My kids each got one. Wasn’t too bad, but can easily be recreated if you have the bat symbol from the recent Batcave and some black R2 legs. Of course those are both hard to come by.
My son and I each got one. I walked behind him to make sure he filled his bag with each piece he needed, while I filled mine.
