Alright, LEGO got me. I really and truly believed that the LEGO Arctic Ice Breaker 60062 set that I discussed a couple weeks back was the last of the Summer 2014 LEGO City Arctic sets. It seems I underestimated LEGO, though, as in actuality there is a seventh full-blown LEGO LEGO Arctic set on the way this summer, and it’s the second store exclusive for the theme. If you like bright orange planes, then you’re in luck–it’s the LEGO Arctic Supply Plane 60064!
LEGO previously showed off the Arctic Supply Plane LEGO 60064 set at an event, but at the show the Arctic Supply Plane didn’t have a name or set number attached, so we weren’t even sure that the set was officially scheduled to be released at all.
Flickr user Neoape posted the above image to his Flickr account from the one time LEGO publicly showed off the LEGO Supply Plane, but that was the only inkling we had of the set (until now). While it’s flown in a little bit after its LEGO Arctic brethren internationally, the 60064 LEGO Arctic Supply Plane has now been sighted in the UK, so we can confirm its release, box art and price-point.
While I think the twin-propeller plane itself looks really cool, the two generic LEGO Arctic minifigures shown are definitely not very compelling. Of course, unless the LEGO Arctic Supply Plane is a ghost plane, there’s gotta be somebody in the plane flying it. So by conjecture this LEGO 60064 Arctic Supply Plane set must contain at least three minifigures. That’s not a lot for a set selling for £49.99 in the UK, but hopefully the pilot minifigure is at least neat.
Based on these first few glimpses, what do you think of the LEGO Arctic Supply Plane, LEGO fans? Is the sole airplane in the LEGO 2014 Arctic theme bound for your collection?
