After stopping at the LEGO Store and taking photos of all the new Summer 2015 Star Wars and City sets yesterday, I strolled away content with the knowledge that I was totally caught up on finding and photographing everything new in stores. Or at least–I was for about five minutes! And then someone posted a photo on our Facebook Page which sent me scrambling on a quest to Toys R Us: the LEGO Ant-Man Final Battle 76039 set has now been released in stores!
While the new LEGO Marvel Carnage set and Rhino/Sandman/Iron Spider set are still M.I.A., the third and final Marvel Summer 2015 set is now arriving in stores, well ahead of its June/July 2015 official release date! I believe that with this release, this set will now be the very first official Ant-Man movie merchandise to have been shipped to stores by any company!
After reader Stephen M. posted his photo of the LEGO Marvel Ant-Man set on the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page, I rushed out to Toys R Us to see if I could find the movie-based set for myself. And lo and behold, it was freshly stocked on the shelf!
My local Toys R Us didn’t have the set in the computer system yet when I went to ring out, but I had taken a photo of the price tag, so they knew the correct (albeit inflated) price.
As of now, the 76039 Ant-Man Final Battle set has only been sighted in Toys R Us stores in the United States, but I’d expect to see it turning up at LEGO Stores in the next few days as well. I’d imagine this set won’t arrive at Target and Walmart and such until June, however.
Now that it’s in stores, what do you think of the sole LEGO Ant-Man set, Marvel fans? Are you heading out to pick up this unique and fairly low-priced set yourself, or are you holding out until you see if the Antman movie is actually, well… good?
WANT
I have no doubt that the Ant-Man movie will be good, but I have a personal rule that I don’t get any sets based on a movie until the given movie has come out. I have this set in my wanted list until then.
I just called my toysrus…and we have an awesome guy who works the lego section. Burbank, CA does not have the ant-man set.
Found 2 at a Toys R Us at Indianapolis this afternoon and they would not sell them. The register flagged the item somehow, the cashier could not sell without manager approval. The manager expressed outrage these were on the shelves “again”, explained they couldn’t be sold prior to June 1 or she’d be fined $500 and fired. What? I gave up. A sad day at the Toys ‘R Us.
