Earlier today I discussed one of the cutest LEGO sets of 2015–the LEGO Creator Rainforest Animals 31031 set. While that set is hands-down one of the most heartwarming LEGO sets coming out this winter, perhaps you’re not into cuddly creatures, and like your animals a little bit more… ferocious? If so, get psyched up, because LEGO has something in mind for you, too! If you can’t afford the set with LEGO Smaug, you’ll have a chance for another red, fire-breathing LEGO Dragon this winter in the LEGO Red Creatures 31032 set!
But for those of us who can’t squeeze a $130 dragon into our budgets, LEGO’s got us covered as far as fire-breathing blood red dragons go too! The main build for the 31032 LEGO Red Creatures set is a totally generic–and totally fun–red dragon! With his piercing bright green eyes and scaly back and tail, this LEGO dragon feels a whole lot more classic and more suitable for many collections than Smaug does.
As with most LEGO Creator animal sets released, the LEGO Red Creatures dragon can be reconfigured into a couple of alternate forms. One of which is a deadly six-legged red scorpion! (I don’t know a whole lot about scorpions, mind you, but they all scare me, so I figure they must all be deadly.)
This scorpion version of the build in which the translucent green eyes are most visible and striking, but also the one where they look the cutest (if anything about this scorpion could be considered “cute”). It’s a real shame that the six legs are on hinge joints instead of ball-joints, as this would have been a supremely poseable and fun LEGO scorpion if all the legs were super-articulated. Oh well–at least the arms are ball-jointed for flexible pincher action!
And if you can’t decide whether you want to display this LEGO Creator 2015 set as a dragon, snake or scorpion–you may not have to! With a retail price of just $14.99 for 221 pieces, the LEGO Creator Red Creatures set is a terrific buy with an outstanding average price of less than seven cents per piece! Wow! I wish LEGO Star Wars sets were that cheap!
The 31032 LEGO Red Creatures set has now started to ship out early to Toys R Us stores in the United States, and the set is expected to arrive at the LEGO Stores as well later this month. As LEGO 31032 Red Creatures is part of the LEGO Creator 2015 sets wave, it’s unknown if the set will arrive before the holiday to other retailers (both physical and online), so your best bet for snagging this set is at Toys R Us or your local LEGO Store.
How do you like the fearsome LEGO Red Creatures set, LEGO fans? Will you be buying one (or two–or even three!) of this LEGO set this winter?
