The day Lord of the Rings fans have been anticipating since the theatrical release of The Hobbit is finally here–The Hobbit DVD/Blu-Ray was released in stores today! And there’s an extra-special incentive for LEGO Lord of the Rings fan at Target stores, as The Hobbit DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack there comes with an exclusive, limited-edition LEGO Bilbo Baggins Minifigure! Considering the treacherous weather outside, I wasn’t expecting much competition for the DVD/Bluray Combo Pack of The Hobbit at Target this morning. Turns out, by mid-morning the set had been mostly sold out and they only had 8 packs left in the display! I found one where the box hadn’t been crushed and checked out with it.

Once home, I opened the set and discovered that the Target Exclusive LEGO Hobbit Bilbo Baggins Minifigure in blue coat is sealed within his own little plastic clamshell for protection. It did its job, as the Bilbo figure was still in pristine figure once I got it open.

I figured it was possible LEGO might cheap out on a “free” minifigure, but they didn’t at all. The exclusive DVD/Bluray Bilbo Baggins figure has both a reversible head and printing on the back of his torso. The “scared” face is pretty cute, and will be my default look for Bilbo.

I don’t remember Bilbo ever wearing this exact combination of a blue coat and orange shirt in the actual The Hobbit movie, but I’ll be able to watch for it tonight when I pop in the Hobbit Blu-Ray for the the first time!

Target has The Hobbit DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack on sale for $22.99 through Saturday, March 23 2013. After that, the price will go back up to $27.99, though who knows if there will be any of the exclusive sets with the LEGO Bilbo minifigure still available then? If you want this exclusive minifigure, I’d say to definitely pick up the set from Target ASAP.

A number of people are also selling the combo pack or just their exclusive LEGO Bilbo Baggins minifigure online if you don’t have a local Target or don’t want the DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack.
