There’s so much LEGO news out there right now in the wake of last month’s New York Toy Fair 2013 that a poor collector could drown in it, so we’ve gone through and conglomerated all of the LEGO Legends of Chima Summer 2013 news in one place! Read on for the full LEGO Chima Summer 2013 set list and links to our in-depth previews and photo galleries for each and every major LEGO Legends of Chima set…
Beginning in late July 2013 and shipping in August 2013 and beyond, LEGO will be releasing four new major sets in the 2013 LEGO Legends of Chima theme. You can click the individual links and photos for more information about each set, as well as photo galleries we took at New York Toy Fair in February:
70007 LEGO Legends of Chima Eglor’s Twin Bike
At first I thought that Eglor’s Twin Bike was a little lame, but once I realized the extent of its transforming features, the set really started to grow on me. It’s still not a sure-buy for me because of the lack of any exclusive minifigures, but the transformation into a jet is definitely cool.
70008 LEGO Legends of Chima Gorzan’s Gorilla Striker
As soon as I saw this set I knew I’d be owning it. The over-the-top fun of the Chima Gorilla Striker mech suit is just out of this world. If you want to jump-start your Gorilla Tribe, you’ll need to pick up this set for a quick three-Gorilla minifigure boost.
70009 LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’s Combat Lair
Worriz’ Combat Lair is certainly the most fearsome, intimidating vehicle introduced in the 2013 LEGO Legends of Chima theme! With its immense size and ability to break off into multiple assault vehicles, the Wolf Tribe is a serious threat to every other faction in Chima!
70010 LEGO Legends of Chima The Lion CHI Temple
The stronghold of the Lion Tribe, the Lion CHI Temple 70010 is the centerpiece of this year’s LEGO Chima collection. Massive, bright, and highly impressive, this set is going to be tops on thousands of childrens’ Christmas lists in 2013!
In addition to those major sets, a variety of small LEGO Chima Speedorz will also be released in the summer/fall. These sets will introduce the Fox Tribe, Skunk Tribe, and Gorilla Tribe minifigures into the LEGO Legends of Chima Speedorz theme. The sets include:
70107 LEGO Legends of Chima Speedorz Skunk Attack with Skinnet Skunk Minifigure
I already know that the $130 Lion CHI Temple set coming out this summer in the LEGO Legends of Chima theme isn’t going to fit into my budget, so I’m pleased to see that the Lagravis minifigure–king of the Lion Tribe–will also be coming in a small Speedorz set for a tenth of the price of the Lion CHI Temple.
70109 LEGO Legends of Chima Speedorz Whirling Vines with Gorzan Gorilla Minifigure
The first of two Gorilla Tribe Speedorz sets coming out in Summer 2013! In case you don’t want to invest 50 bucks in the admittedly cool Gorzan’s Gorilla Striker larger Chima set, you can get your hands on the Gorzan minifigure right here for far less.
70110 LEGO Legends of Chima Speedorz Tower Target with Grizzam Gorilla Minifigure
The white gorilla, Grizzam, is the star of Tower Target 70110! If you’re not planning to buy the expensive LEGO Chima Worriz’ Combat Lair set, then this Speedorz Tower Target will be the only place to snag the Grizzam minifigure.
701111 LEGO Legends of Chima Speedorz Swamp Jump with Furty Fox Minifigure
My most-anticipated Speedorz set of the year (by far), as the Fox Tribe Furty minifigure is released in this set! Foxes are among my favorite animals, and I’m psyched to see the Fox Tribe debut in LEGO Chima!
70112 LEGO Chima Speedorz Croc Chomp with Crug Minifigure
Finally, the last Summer 2013 Chima set is the Speedorz Croc Chomp. Definitely the least-interesting of the late summer Legends of Chima LEGO releases, this is just a standard set with the already-released Crug Crocodile Tribe minifigure.
