Ever get the feeling that you’ve forgotten something? For me, that “something” is apparently forgetting to hit the “Publish” button, because I’ve had this article prepped and waiting to be posted since this weekend. But that’s okay, because “waiting” is related to the topic at-hand! LEGO Minecraft fans have had to wait a long time to get standard LEGO minifigure scale LEGO Minecraft sets, but their day in the sun is finally almost here! In November 2014, the LEGO Minecraft Minifigure scaled sets are scheduled to officially hit stores, and now we’ve gotten our first glance at the entire first wave!
LEGO Minecraft Ender Dragon The 21117
The floating platform with torches on it looks very cool, and I love the three black obsidian pillars, and the Ender Crystals look great in this scale (plus at least one of them is a light-up brick!). There’s also an alternate build for this set shown on the front of the box that’s a big LEGO turtle carrying everything else on his back. Awesome. This $69.99 LEGO Minecraft set will be coming home this fall, no doubt about it.
Next up we’ve got the 21113 LEGO Minecraft The Cave set. I talked about the Cave LEGO Minecraft set when the first images leaked last month, and I don’t have a whole lot to add about it now. It’s nice to see the box art for the set, although doing so has left me disappointed that there’s not actually a mixed yellow and orange lava lake included with the set like we see on the box art.
This is a cute set for $19.99 and good for getting “cheap” minifigures of Steve, a Zombie and a Spider, but I’m very sure I’ll be skipping the LEGO 21113 Farm set when it arrives in November 2014.
The LEGO 21114 The Farm Minecraft set is the other set that images leaked of last month, so again I don’t have much to add to my previous impressions of the set. LEGO sold me on this set with the Minecraft-style LEGO Sheep and LEGO Cow figures (not to mention that scary LEGO pumpkin!). Everything else in this $29.99 LEGO Minecraft 21114 set is just gravy.
LEGO Minecraft The First Night 21115
Next up we’ve got the 21115 LEGO Minecraft The First Night set. I think this is a pretty inspired selection for a LEGO Minecraft set by LEGO, as the first night in-game in LEGO Minecraft can be quite a harrowing experience for those who haven’t read tutorials or been told what to do. I love non-combative LEGO sets like this one, and the LEGO Steve minifigure looks almost peaceful in his newly-built home!
While the Minecraft Creepers tend to freak me out, I actually think the LEGO Minecraft Creeper minifigures are rather adorable-looking. Add in that cute LEGO Minecraft Pig minifigure and the charming Minecraft-style LEGO tree, and this set is cool enough to make my Christmas List for this year (and yes, my Christmas List is always 100% composed of toys and has been for my entire life–go me).
LEGO Minecraft Crafting Box 21116
And to sweeten the deal just a bit, the LEGO Crafting Box 21116 set is the only one of the LEGO Minecraft sets that will include a brick-built LEGO Minecraft Mooshroom cow figure! This particular set is a bit too open-ended for me, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what other LEGO fans build from it!
And finally we have the largest and most expensive of the LEGO Minecraft 2014 fall sets: the 21118 LEGO The Mine set. For a $99.99 set, it’s sort of disappointing that there are no exclusive characters minifigures included in this LEGO 21118 The Mine set–you get a LEGO Steve minifigure, along with a Skeleton, a Creeper, a Zombie and a Spider. Though it’s the most expensive Minecraft LEGO set ever released, I think that the LEGO Minecraft The Mine set is actually the most uninteresting one as well.
The LEGO Minecraft 2015 sets are scheduled to be released in November 2014, but I fully expect to spot them in stores somewhere before the end of October 2014. Stay tuned to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page, as I’ll post an alert as soon as the first sighting of the LEGO Minecraft Fall 2014 sets occurs in the wild.
What do you think of the first half-dozen LEGO Minecraft minifig scale sets, LEGO fans? Will any of these LEGO Minecraft sets be making your holiday wish list (or being bought before you can even make one)?
thanks so useful. I can’t wait. :-]
