I stopped by the closest local mall with a LEGO Store today to pick up the LEGO Store October 2013 Calendar, and I was surprised to see how hard LEGO was promoting this month’s free exclusive LEGO Mini Volkswagen T1 Camper Van promo, with signs and samples of the exclusive Mini Volkswagen literally all over the store. I was so impressed, I decided to take a few photos to share for those who aren’t lucky enough to be surrounded by the chain of LEGO Stores…
In what I think is a really clever sales tactic, LEGO has utilized the front window display (at least at the LEGO Store I went to) to co-spotlight the full-size LEGO Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 10220 alongside its LEGO Mini Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 40079 polybag little brother. People who can’t afford the large-sized LEGO 10220 can be enticed by the free LEGO 40079, while people who get the promo mini Volkswagen Camper Van for free may be lured into buying the full-size LEGO Creator Volkswagen Camper Van (though you’re best off buying the full-size Camper Van on Amazon with no tax and free shipping to save about 10 bucks).
The larger 10220 LEGO Volkswagen T1 Camper Van is obviously far more detailed than its little bro, but there’s definitely an undeniable charm about the mini Volkswagen Camper Van set as well. I love that LEGO opened the doors on the large LEGO Volkswagen Camper Van 10220 to show all of the features and details found only in the large set, though: “Like your Mini Volkswagen Van? Look how much cooler the large one is! Harass your parents to buy it, kids!”
Just in case shoppers miss the huge display window of the two LEGO Volkswagen Vans outside the store, LEGO has strategically placed signs and stickers promoting the mini Volkswagen Camper Van LEGO set promo throughout the interior of the store as well, including in glass cases on either side of the checkout counter. You temptress, LEGO!
If you don’t have a local LEGO Store, you can get the exclusive LEGO Mini Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 40079 set promo direct from the online LEGO Store throughout the month of September 2013.
Hey this is a stab but are you at the KC lego store?
Good try, but nope!
