Downtown Disney Orlando LEGO Store Report & Photos!

As I am wont to do whenever I go, well… anywhere, I knew my Christmas Day at Walt Disney World wouldn’t be complete without seeking out the nearest LEGO Store (which happens to be at the Orlando Downtown Disney). I’ve been there a few times in past years, but I thought it would be neat to see it at Christmas. Unfortunately, what seems like the entire population of Orlando thought so as well…

I’m a LEGO addict. I admit it. And as such, no trip I take is complete without visiting whatever LEGO Store is closest to where I’ve travelled to. And in the case of Disney World, the closest one is (of course) in the Downtown Disney district.

With today being Christmas Day and all, I figured traffic would be pretty low at a store. I mean, who shops on Christmas… right?

Well, as it turns out, basically the entire population of Earth shops at Downtown Disney on Christmas Day, and as such, the LEGO Store (and really the whole “district”) was an absolute madhouse beyond anything I’d ever seen before at a LEGO Store (I posted a video of the crowd to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page, of anyone wants to see the mayhem in motion).

I didn’t stay long in the store (as I feared for my life amidst the masses of people rushing in and out of the store), but I did do a quick sweep of the entire store to see what was what.

While most of this year’s exclusive LEGO sets like the LEGO Parisian Restaurant and LEGO Batman Tumbler were present and accounted for, LEGO was true to their word: not a single January 2015 LEGO set was on the shelves. I’m sure this particular store could have made a killing selling the new sets early, but it looks like the newest LEGO sets really won’t hit LEGO Stores for seven more days.

Having not visited this particular LEGO Store location in a few years, I decided to fight the mob of people outside to take photos of the unique LEGO creations outside of the LEGO Store.

The LEGO Sea Serpent is a classic, and has remained outside of this store since the first time I ever visited it way back in 2007. Always nice to visit the ol’ boy, though!

I don’t remember the LEGO Maleficent Dragon fighting Prince Phillip clearly, but I think it may have been on-site a few years ago when I last visited this store.

I definitely had never seen the LEGO Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs displays before. Not only is there a LEGO Dopey being kissed by Snow White display…

…but all six of the other LEGO Dwarfs are hanging out further down the path. Neat!

I ended up not buying anything from the LEGO Store today (as there wasn’t anything new that I needed at the store anyway), but it was still cool (albeit terrifying) to visit a LEGO Store that was actually open for business on Christmas Day.

Anyone else manage to brave the Orlando LEGO Store (or any LEGO Store) today? If so, did you escape unscathed?

Downtown Disney Orlando LEGO Store Report & Photos! — 3 Comments

  1. I’ll be there the first week of January, and am excited to see the new sets. Regarding how busy it was…well, I feel like it’s *always* that busy. Seriously. I’ve never, in my 15 years of going there, seen it during a slow time. Of course, Christmas Day ISO the single busiest day of the year for Disney World, so it makes sense that Downtown Disney would be crushed as well.

  2. I was there earlier this year and I don’t remember Snow White from then (January, but I also have terrible memory.) Where Woody, Buzz, and RC still there? that was my favorite.
