2015 has been perhaps the most epic year in LEGO history, with an unbelievable number of five-star sets making their way into stores and our collections, including entries from legendary properties like Scooby-Doo, Jurassic World and Wall-E. But as amazing as 2015 has been, it’s coming to an end, and the final calendar of this year has finally been posted. Even so, the LEGO Stores are closing out this year strongly, as the December 2015 LEGO Store Calendar is headlined by a free LEGO 2016 Ornament Promo!
There have been plenty of rumors circulating about potential LEGO shortages this coming holiday season, but whether that’s the case or not, it looks like TLG is planning to have another swinging December holiday shopping month at the LEGO Store!
Not only will the free 2016 LEGO Wall Calendar promotion be continuing into December, but there’s a totally unexpected holiday ornament promo coming our way as well…
It’s not immediately clear to me whether this 2015 Ornament is a brick-built “set” or one solid and/or glued piece, but it’s a LEGO Christmas ornament, and that means it’s a must-have for my collection.
I was intending to be all tapped out as far as 2015 set purchases go after Brick Friday, but I’m sure I can find something to give as a Christmas gift to someone for $50+ to earn this Christmas Tree LEGO ornament!
…But that’s not all for freebies in 12/2015! The final Monthly Mini Model Build of the year will take place on December 1st and 2nd, and will be a… a… well, I’m really not sure what it is!
If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say that this is a Submarine mini model build, but it would be a space vehicle or even a Transformer for all I know (no, not the latter).
Are any of you absolutely certain what the December 2015 Mini Monthly Model Build is, readers?
That said, the calendar back does shine the spotlight on this year’s trio of holiday baubles:
- Holiday Bauble Santa
- Christmas Snow Hut Ornament
- Holiday Bauble Red Bricks
I love these stylized holiday baubles, so I’m happy to see them return for another go this holiday season!
What do you think of the December 2015 LEGO Stores calendar, brick fans? Will you be heading to your local store to earn a Christmas Tree ornament or participate in the Monthly Mini Model Build, or is there not enough incentive for you to fight the mob of crazed shoppers at the mall next month?
The free mini build looks like a submersible explorer thing. It goes along with the recent shark, whale, and diver models of recent months.
The Snow Hut ornament is already sold out on Lego.com.
The tree ornament is okay, but I liked the promo sets last year better–although the $50 price point to get the free ornament is lower than usual, so more people will be able to take advantage of the promo.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one totally confused by the mini-build. 🙂
I’m kind of bummed that there’s no ep7 poster to go with the 6 from the past 6 months. I hope it just hasn’t been announced yet. I might get a ball ornament and put my own build in it, and I might try to replicate the tree ornament on my own, but I’m probably not gonna spend $50 there, unless I decide that I want the Ideas Doctor Who set badly enough not to wait for a more appealing promo.
