I was a man on a mission today, and that mission was to find and purchase the summer LEGO Castle 2013 sets! Although the resurrected LEGO Castle theme sets weren’t expected to hit retail stores until June or July 2013, LEGO fandom was stunned when some new 2013 LEGO Castle sets were spotted at retail this week. I really, really wanted the LEGO Castle Dragon Mountain 70403 set, so I went LEGO dragon hunting at my earliest opportunity today. Well… I didn’t find the LEGO Dragon Mountain set. But–BUT!! I did manage to come across almost every other LEGO Castle Summer 2013 set during my travels…

When I went out to the store tonight hunting for newly-released 2013 LEGO Summer sets, I honestly wasn’t looking for anything from the LEGO Legends of Chima line. To be totally honest, I didn’t think that there were even any LEGO Chima summer 2013 sets out yet. I didn’t even check the LEGO Chima section at the store because I was so convinced there was nothing there worth checking out. Luckily, something brand-spanking-new caught my wife’s eye: the LEGO Chima CHI Buildable Figure sets!

I admit to not being the biggest fan of the LEGO Architecture theme. It’s not that I don’t love real buildings–I actually think that the LEGO Architecture sets are some of the coolest things that LEGO releases. No, it’s the prices that put me off of the LEGO Architecture theme–I feel like the sets just plain cost too much for the small size of the boxes and the sets! That said, I’ve weakened tremendously toward the notion of buying LEGO Architecture sets today. One reason for that is a pretty sweet sale going on for current LEGO Architecture sets, and the other is the reveal of the brand-new, upcoming Summer 2013 LEGO Architecture United Nations Headquarters 21018 set!

It seems that you can’t keep a good LEGO theme down, as this summer LEGO Castle will have its third coming! The LEGO Castle 2013 theme will be the second revival of the legendary LEGO Castle theme that debuted in 1978 and ran until 1997.
