If there’s one thing that LEGO fans will never, never get tired of, it’s LEGO trains sets! LEGO could probably just produced a slightly-tweaked and only somewhat-new LEGO train set every year for the rest of time and the LEGO train sets would still sell like wildfire, so it’s no surprise that LEGO is capitalizing on demand for new trains with the all-new LEGO City High-Speed Passenger Train 60051 set this summer 2014! As a nearly-unlimited number of LEGO sets are released each year and I only have limited space and limited funds to buy them with, some compromise is necessary. As such, I generally stick to collecting licensed LEGO sets and specific LEGO action themes I like the most (like LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Chima). But sometimes the LEGO City theme knows just how to draw me in, and it’s with slice-of-life, everday sets that are just so mundane and commonplace that everyone can relate to them (even me).

LEGO Ninjago made its fateful and much-anticipated return at the tail-end of 2013 with the LEGO Ninjago Rebooted theme. Six months later, LEGO is readying the second wave of the revived theme for release with the LEGO Ninjago Summer 2014 sets! While there are only two known sets scheduled, one of them is monstrously huge and sure to be atop most boys’ birthday and Christmas lists in 2014–it’s the LEGO Battle for Ninjago City 70727 2014 summer set!

Yesterday I talked about two of the three new LEGO Mixels Series 2 tribes–the Blue Frosticons and the Orange Flexers–and now it’s time to talk about the third and final new Series 2 tribe of Mixels–the Brown Fang Gang!

LEGO Mixels have come out of nowhere to become a real sales sensation among kids and AFOLs, and fans can’t wait for the 2014 Summer LEGO Mixels Series 2 figures to arrive! Earlier tonight I talked about my favorite of the new three Mixels tribes to be introduced–the blue Mixels Frosticons tribe, but that’s not to say there’s not some other cool creatures lined up for Mixels Series 2!

I admit it: I thought that the LEGO Mixels theme was going to be a total bomb. But as it turns out, I was wrong: LEGO Mixels Series 1 is a bonafide smash hit! The nine figures that make up LEGO Series 1 Mixels have sold out in many stores and are difficult to find at retail (although all of the Mixels are in-stock consistently at the online LEGO Store), and many collectors are jazzed-up and ready for LEGO Mixels Series 2! And those fans are in luck–LEGO Mixels Series 2 will be arriving in just two months, including the awesome Mixels Blue Frosticons sets!

I don’t usually talk a whole lot about the LEGO Creator theme here, as the mass-release LEGO Creator sets tend to not be very hyped or popular (in general). But every once in a while a LEGO Creator set comes along that you can instantly tell from the preview photos is going to make a huge splash and be super-popular with LEGO collectors. Of the four LEGO Marvel Summer 2014 sets that are on the way, only one of those sets isn’t based on the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I tend to prefer LEGO Marvel comic-based sets to Marvel movie-based sets, so ordinarily I’d be pretty disappointed to just get a sole comics-based LEGO Marvel set to close out 2014. But when the one LEGO Marvel Summer 2014 set is X-Men focused, it’s tough to be disappointed! Coming in August 2014–the LEGO X-Men vs. The Sentinel 76022 set!

Marvel has now officially begun letting merchandising companies show off their Guardians of the Galaxy movie products, and that means that we’re finally able to get a good look at the sets that weren’t allowed to be photographed at the New York Toy Fair 2014 in February! First up, let’s take a gander at the Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO Marvel Knowhere Escape Mission 76020, which just may be the most-anticipated of the sets for two reasons–and those two reasons are “LEGO Rocket Raccoon and Groot”….
