I usually have pretty good instincts when it comes to predicting how well LEGO sets are going to sell at retail, but I was totally off the mark regarding one of the new sub-themes introduced in 2014. Not only did the LEGO Star Wars Microfighters Series 1 sets not bomb like I thought they were going to, but I even grew to like the sets myself and ended up buying them! And in January 2015, LEGO will release another half-dozen chibi-fied little Star Wars vehicles–the Microfighters Series 2 LEGO Star Wars 2015 sets have now been revealed!

With 2015 being the first year with a Star Wars movie being released in theaters in over a decade (the Clone Wars movie absolutely does not count), most Star Wars licensees are focusing on Original Trilogy Star Wars toys and collectibles in 2015. LEGO…? Not so much. Things were looking pretty grim for the LEGO Star Wars Rebels Empire in 2014, where the total count of LEGO Star Wars Rebels set vehicles released was Rebels: 2, Empire: 0. Luckily for the Empire (and bad for civilians everywhere), the first Imperial LEGO Star Wars Rebels vehicles will be arriving as part of the LEGO Star Wars 2015 sets wave in January. I know it’s probably sacrilege to say this, but I think I enjoyed more moments of happiness and enjoyment from watching the six seasons of the Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon series than all of the Star Wars movies put together. So while I’m still rather skeptical after seeing the premiere of Star Wars Rebels, I definitely want to fall in love with the series and buy tons of merch for it. LEGO is hoping I’ll want to as well, as the LEGO Star Wars 2015 sets wave coming in January will include several more LEGO Rebels sets, including LEGO Star Wars Ezra’s Speeder Bike 75090!

Earlier this week I talked about what is almost unquestionably going to be the most-demanded and hottest-selling LEGO set of Winter 2015, the LEGO Frozen Elsa’s Sparkling Palace 41062 set. But while that’s certainly the most high-profile LEGO Disney Princess set that LEGO has ever released, it’s definitely not the only set coming from that theme in January 2015. Disney Princesses and race cars and ninjas are awesome and all, but now it’s time to start talking about the 2015 entries for one of my absolute favorite LEGO themes–the LEGO Legends of Chima 2015 sets have now been revealed! The leaked list of LEGO Chima 2015 sets posted last month was right on the money–there’s no sets at all coming that we didn’t know about. But while we’d heard of all the new sets already, that’s nothing compared to seeing them! Case in point: the 2015 LEGO Chima Flinx’s Ultimate Phoenix 70221!

When the LEGO Store November 2014 calendar popped up unexpectedly early last week, one of the images on the calendar that really caught people’s eyes was a previously unseen LEGO Snowman set! Based on the lead time LEGO has on releasing LEGO seasonal sets before each holiday, it was pretty obvious that we’d be seeing the 2014 LEGO Seasonal Snowman set pretty soon. And lo and behold, one week later, here he is–and he didn’t come alone! The LEGO Reindeer 40092 and the LEGO Snowman 40093 have now been released!

LEGO–like many, many other toy companies–really missed the boat last year when they decided not to have any LEGO Frozen sets at all in their 2013-2014 lineup.
