Let’s face it–not every vehicle in the Star Wars universe is entirely realistic. But there are some Star Wars vehicles that go beyond being a bit far-fetched to all-out ludicrous. One of these existed outside continuity for over 30 years as a Kenner toy: the Imperial Troop Transport. Astonishing everyone, Pablo Hidalgo announced at NYCC 2013 the Imperial Troop Transport would be entering the official canon as part of Rebels. And in 2015, it enters the LEGO world: it’s the LEGO Star Wars Imperial Troop Transport 75078!

2014 was a tough year for the Star Wars Expanded Universe, what with Disney wiping virtually ever Star Wars book and video game ever made out of official Star Wars continuity. That move broke a lot of hearts and left a lot of characters out of a job in the Star Wars Universe. But LEGO is coming to the rescue as the new best friend of out-of-continuity characters in 2015, with a variety of Star Wars Expanded Universe sets. It’s been fun while it lasted, but the Toys R Us 2014 LEGO Bricktober event comes to a close this week! Along with the very popular LEGO Bat Signal build event that took place a couple weekends ago, Bricktober 2014 has been headlined by a different LEGO Mini Modular Building being given out each week. If you’ve missed any or all of the previous sets they’re available for sale online, but the fourth and final Bricktober 2014 set is now available free with a qualifying purchase at Toys R Us: the 40183 LEGO Town Hall!

I’m back from the big city, and I didn’t come back from New York Comic Con 2014 empty-handed! Although LEGO didn’t show off any new products other than the first LEGO Bionicle 2014 sets at NYCC 2014 (and didn’t bring anything to sell–period), LEGO did have one very cool item available for LEGO collectors: the NYCC 2014 LEGO Bionicle Exclusive Tahu Mask! Way back in July, I was scandalized when LEGO decided to make the LEGO Rocket Raccoon Warbird set a SDCC 2014 exclusive. I wasn’t thrilled about it, but I ended up dropping $100+ for that SDCC 2014 LEGO Rocket Raccoon set so that I could have a complete Rocket Raccoon shrine (I’m not kidding). Now I somewhat regret that decision, because I overpaid by at least $95 to get that LEGO Rocket Raccoon minifigure–because a Toys R Us exclusive Rocket Raccoon polybag with the same Rocket has now turned up online!

It seems like a dozen or more new LEGO sets are being revealed every day now (because they are!), which is making it tough to keep up with the onslaught of of news. So even though it was revealed a few days ago, now, let’s stop and take a look at another one of the LEGO Star Wars 2015 sets coming our way in January. The 2015 LEGO Star Wars TIE Advanced Prototype 75082 is obviously pretty reminiscent of Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, but not only does it has some unique design elements that actually make me like this prototype more than the final version, it has the first-ever LEGO Inquisitor Minifigure!

When the rumors began swirling around that LEGO was planning a new LEGO Elves theme for 2015, visions immediately began to form in my head of legions of LOTR-like LEGO Elf minifigures notching their bows and preparing to do battle with the forces of evil. Now that images of the actual LEGO Elves 2015 sets have appeared, I know this this… isn’t that. In fact, there are no LEGO minifigures at all–just LEGO minidolls. But while the 2015 LEGO Elves theme isn’t what I was expecting, it’s definitely not all bad either…
