Earlier this week, the October 2014 LEGO Stores Calendar was posted, which made it very clear exactly where all of us will be spending all of our money in October 2014: the LEGO Store. After all, nothing could be nearly as enticing as Double LEGO VIP Rewards points and the LEGO 2014 Holiday Promo set, right? Or so I thought. Toys R Us is taking aim at our wallets as well in October 2014, and to my surprise, they really are going to claim whatever money I have left over! The Toys R Us Bricktober 2014 LEGO exclusive Mini Modular Building sets have now been revealed!
While last year’s Bricktober 2013 Minifigure Collection was fun, past Bricktober exclusives like the magnets and the DUPLO Bricktober pieces always struck me as being pretty forgettable.
But all that has now changed! For the 2014 Bricktober exclusives, Toys R Us has lined up a concept that they’ve never had before–and it’s a good one! For each of the four weeks of October 2014, Toys R Us will give away a free* exclusive 2014 Bricktober LEGO Mini Modular Building set! (*And by free, I mean “with a qualifying purchase”, mind you.)
The four Toys R Us exclusive LEGO Bricktober 2014 sets will be as follows:
- LEGO Theater 40180
- LEGO Pizza Place 40181
- LEGO Fire Station 40182
- LEGO Town Hall 40183
Logic would dictate that these four sets would be released in the same order as above (ie: the order of the set numbers), but LEGO doesn’t always deal in logic, so we’ll have to wait and see exactly which weeks each of these sets are going to be available during!
That’s not to say that the other exclusive 2014 Bricktober LEGO sets don’t have their own charms–I think they look absolutely fantastic as free promo sets, and I really can’t decide which of the 40183 LEGO Town Hall mini or the 40182 LEGO Fire Station mini looks the most intricate! LEGO has really outdone themselves with the Bricktober Modular Buildings sets, in my opinion.
The LEGO Bricktober 2014 giveaways should begin at Toys R Us the first week of October and run through the fourth week of the month. I’ll post an update here and to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page once the specific details of the LEGO Bricktober 2014 promo sets are revealed, so stay tuned if little free LEGO Modular buildings appeal to you (and let’s be honest–who doesn’t these sets appeal to?).
What do you think of Toys R Us’ exclusives for the LEGO Bricktober 2014 event, LEGO collectors? Will you be hitting up Toys R Us all October long to claim these four mini modular buildings, or are you going to be all tapped out from your October 2014 LEGO Store purchases?
I like these, I really do. But it is during double points month. I got a free shipping code from the LEGO store since the didn’t have a set in stock. I was going to use it in October with double points.
I guess I have to wait till TRU reveals their minimum purchase price to get the free sets.
I’ll likely end up trying to get all 4 since I’m a huge fan of micro builds.
I do like these and think they’re awfully cute; however, I really dislike having to get them through TRU. I like the money I spend on LEGO to count for something (VIP, double points, etc…) Buying them from TRU only means I’m spending money that could be applied to that. 😉
You could try TRU’s rewards program, especially if you buy for kids often, collect other toys or dabble in other brands. It’s got a decent payout in certificates.
Ah, didn’t know they had that! The hubs isn’t impressed, but I do really like them…
Found the theater for $19.99 at TRU! Was put out early. Does not start till the 5th the 12th and so on. Was not able to purchase so manager is holding it for me!
I work at tru and we too have the theater on our shelves. Although at my store, if it’s on the shelf we will sell it to you. That’s how we roll!
Where is your store location?
Have to spend $75 to get it for free. Went by the local TRU this morning and that’s what they said, and what was in the sale paper :/
