It’s hard to believe, but we’re just two weeks away from everyone’s favorite (or least-favorite!) shopping days of the year: Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday 2014! Some people (like my family) are pretty disgusted that retail sales are taking over Thanksgiving now, in addition to the day after Thanksgiving, but I’ll take any sale that I can get–particularly on LEGO sets! The 2014 Black Friday ads have now appeared, so let’s take a look at exactly what we can buy at a discount from Target, Toys R Us, Walmart and K-Mart this holiday shopping season…
Target Black Friday 2014 Sales
60008 City Police Museum Break-In $42.99 (regularly $69.99) 40% Off
31012 Creator Family House $42.99 (regularly $69.99) 40% Off
75018 Star Wars Jek-14’s Stealth Starfighter $42.99 (regularly $69.99) 40% Off
6860 Batman Batcave $42.99 (regularly $69.99) 40% Off
Of these four items, the big winner is obviously the Batcave 6860. This set is overdue to be retired, so this is very likely the last time to pick it up at a heavy discount. In addition, the LEGO Batman The Batcave set tends to sell out every holiday season and then goes for around $100 (or more) on the weeks leading up to Christmas, so it’s definitely the set to grab in this bunch.
Toys R Us Black Friday 2014 LEGO Sale Items
4439 City Heavy-Duty Helicopter $34.99 (regularly $54.99)
70403 Castle Dragon Mountain $34.99 (regularly $54.99)
Galaxy Squad Sets 50% Off (regularly $12.99-109.99)
This is sort of a “blah” batch–I expect better from Toys R Us. I suppose 50% Off of Galaxy Squad sets is an “okay” deal–especially since the sets will be discontinued at the end of 2014–but I feel like most people who want those almost two-year-old sets have them by now. The 4439 Heavy-Duty Helicopter is a decent deal at $34.99, but I think we’ll see 70403 Dragon Mountain selling for cheaper online as we approach the holidays. Honestly, I’m not even going to go to Toys R Us this Thanksgiving/Black Friday.
Finally, we’ve got K-Mart. Yes, K-Mart. Walmart has apparently lost their minds and decided not to include any LEGO sales in their Walmart Black Friday ad, so we’ll have to fall back on the other “mart”. They at least have some quasi-interesting sale items, though.
K-Mart Thansksgiving Day Sale (7PM-3AM)
60017 City Flatbed Truck $11.99 (regularly $19.99) 40% Off
60018 City Cement Mixer $11.99 (regularly $19.99) 40% Off
41003 Friends Olivia Newborn Foal $5.99 (regularly $9.99) 40% Off
41010 Friends Olivia’s Beach Buggy $5.99 (regularly $9.99) 40% Off
The City Cement Mixer set can be difficult to find in stores at this point, as can the pair of Friends sets that are on sale (and already sold-out through LEGO Shop at Home). This isn’t a bad little batch of sets for 40% Off at all!
K-Mart Black Friday Sale
70130 Chima Sparratus’ Spider Stalker $14.99 (regularly $24.99) 40% Off
70129 Chima Lavertus Twin Blade $11.99 (regularly $19.99) 40% Off
76009 Superman Black Zero Escape $11.99 (regularly $19.99) 40% Off
76007 Marvel Iron Man Malibu Mansion Attack $23.99 (regularly $39.99) 40% Off
The Legends of Chima sets are marked down to the lowest I’ve ever seen them as part of this sale, and both of the Superheroes sets will be discontinued in 2015, so these are great deals all-around on Black Friday at K-Mart.
What do you think of this year’s Black Friday Sales, LEGO collectors? Is there anything on sale that you’re willing to fight the mobs for, or are this year’s selections a washout for you?
Actually, the Walmart ad has the Lego Creative Tower set for $30. This is basically a tub of bricks, not necessarily a set. But it has 1600 pieces for $30! That is an amazing price if you are looking to build up your basic brick supply.
Last year Walmart did not advertise Lego in their Black Friday ad. However, our store put up a “Manager Special, all Lego 30% off” sign. So I got some pretty decent deals that way. I’m hoping they do something similar again this year.
Although I agree the Lego Creative Tower is a decent price, I bought this product for $30 in October, so not really “ON sale” item for Black Friday, more of a “FOR sale” item.
Lego movie for $9 at Target. I wonder if it’s really the 3D bonus pack or not.
Hello again Bricks & Bloks,
I was wondering if you’ve heard any news about the release date of the new Chima sets (2015 winter ). I am hoping against hope that they will be made available before Christmas. Do you know anything?
