I have been a man on a mission this whole week, and my quest has been a simple one: to find, acquire, scan and post the all-new August 2013 LEGO Store calendar! I’ve been each of the four LEGO Stores in my area multiple times over the course of this week, but finally my epic journey is at an end. At last, I got my very own LEGO Store August 2013 calendar today at one of my local LEGO Stores, and I’m uploaded the calendar and its cornucopia of LEGO news for all of you!

For all the time and effort I put into my epic hunt for the August 2013 LEGO Stores Calendar, it turns out to be a little bit underwhelming.There are two free LEGO polybag promo sets, but neither is from an especially popular theme. One is the LEGO Friends Ice Cream Stand polybag, which will be free with any LEGO Friends set purchase for the entire month of August. The other is the LEGO Galaxy Squad Mini Mech, which will be free with any purchase of $50 or more from the LEGO Store from August 1-15, 2013.

There’s also a week full of LEGO Chima Tournaments from August 19-23, 2013. LEGO is seemingly trying very hard to promote sales of the LEGO Legends of Chima sets, as the line has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start. Hopefully this month-long celebration of LEGO Chima with training and tournaments will help to kickstart the line, at least a little bit. The fact that the new LEGO Legends of Chima cartoon series is scheduled to have new episodes air beginning this month ought to help the Chima theme out as well (though I have my concerns that Chima may never be quite as popular as the LEGO Ninjago theme turned out to be).

Most conspicuous by their absence are any mentions whatsoever of the Summer 2013 LEGO Star Wars sets or the LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine. LEGO must really be doing their best to keep the Back to the Future LEGO Delorean until they unveil it in the United States at San Diego Comic Con 2012 in two weeks, though that’s almost a little silly since scans of LEGO 21103 already hit the internet weeks ago. Nice try, though, LEGO!

The back of the LEGO Stores August 2013 calendar is unfortunately not all that captivating either. Probably the most enticing bit of information on the back of the calendar is the tidbit that the LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Combat Lair 70009 set is scheduled to be released by the time this calendar goes into effect. We haven’t seen any of the LEGO Legends of Chima Summer 2013 sets in stores yet in the United States, but it looks like they’ll finally be rolling in later this month!

LEGO fans will also be able to build and decorate a LEGO Friends Jewelry Box on August 1st (I’m going to skip that particular event) and create the free August 2013 LEGO Monthly Mini Build Flamingo on August 6th! There’s a lot of other nuggets of information floating around in the calendar, so be sure to check out the hi-res scans I posted and see if anything catches your attention!
