Ordinarily, the LEGO Store webmasters are right on top of things and ready to spring the next month’s LEGO Store Calendar onto us on-time each month (and usually even early). This month? Not so much. For whatever reason, the hi-res images of the April 2015 LEGO Store Calendar haven’t been posted online yet. I could only handle not having the hi-res versions of the calendar for a couple days, so I decided to head to my local LEGO Store and pick up an April 2015 LEGO Stores Calendar myself to scan in and post online, detailing all of the LEGO Store April 2015 deals, free promos and events!
Every month the LEGO Store Calendar likes to focus on a different theme, and for April 2015, that theme is Ninjago! This doesn’t come as a huge surprise, as the LEGO Ninjago 2015 sets were just officially released in stores this week, and all-new episodes of the Ninjago cartoon series will be airing March 30-April 3, 2015 (not to mention a Ninjago marathon airing Saturday April 11th!).
The header image for the LEGO Stores April 2015 calendar is the Ninjago Enter the Serpent 70749, one of my favorite 2015 Ninjago sets.
The set includes a 2015 style LEGO Kai minifigure (the red Ninjago and arguably the second most popular Ninjago character), as well as a small stud-firing “drifter” vehicle with sais mounted on the sides. It’s a cute enough little set, but not one I’d spend $50 at the LEGO Store just to get (although I will most assuredly be spending $50 at the LEGO Store next month regardless, so it’s a moot point).
The LEGO Monthly Mini Model Build for April 2015 will be an awesome LEGO UFO model. I took some hi-res photos of the actual model preview in the display case at the LEGO Store, and will be posting them later on this week–look forward to it!
…Well, this can’t be good for Bionicle fans! The 2015 LEGO Bionicle sets have only been in stores for two months, and already double VIP points are planned to be given out for buying certain sets. Onua was never the most popular of the Toa, and I didn’t expect the Lord of Skull Spiders to be a top-seller, but it’s still worrisome to see LEGO trying so hard to promote sales of sets that are still very new.
Yep, something is definitely not right in Bionicle-ville, as Brick Specialists will be stamping LEGO Passports from April 13-17 just for asking about Bionicle. You would think most kids worldly enough to have a LEGO Passport would already know what LEGO Bionicle is four months after the theme’s revival, but clearly LEGO thinks that not enough children are into the resurrected Bionicle theme thus far.
April 15th is typically a day that people dread (what with taxes being due and all), but this year it’s something to really look forward to! LEGO VIPs will get early access to an exclusive set–and while LEGO may not necessarily want us to know what that set is just yet, we of course already know that it’s the Simpsons LEGO Kwik-E-Mart 71016 set that leaked yesterday!
As fans have been anticipating the rumored release of the Kwik-E-Mart expansion to the Simpsons theme for the better part of a year now, I’d expect the initial sales on the 71016 LEGO The Kwik-E-Mart set to be pretty brisk. As a Simpsons fan, I am really excited about this release!
Once again, the back of the LEGO Store April 2015 Calendar is pretty dull. That LEGOLAND Hotel opening in May 2015 in Orlando sounds like it could be pretty cool, though, with themed LEGO rooms! The Pirates room looks neat, but I would opt for a Legends of Chima room instead (if there was one in existence, which I have a hunch there will not be).
What do you think of the April 2015 LEGO Stores Calendar? Is there anything scheduled for next month that gets you all psyched up about building and collecting, or is the first full month of spring looking mediocre to you this year?
