2016 LEGO Frozen Sets Photos! Arendelle Castle! Sleigh!

New York Comic-Con 2015 has come and gone, and that means that it’s time to start getting excited for the eye-popping multitude of LEGO 2016 sets that will be coming our way in just a few short months! And what better sets to start our previews with than the sequels to the best-selling Disney Princess set of all-time: the 2016 LEGO Frozen Arendelle Castle Celebration 41068 and Anna & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure 41066 have now been revealed!

Frozen LEGO 2016 Arendella Castle Celebration Set

Usually we have to wait for clueless retailers to leak photos of unannounced sets before they’re supposed to do so, but we must have been good little brick-building boys and girls this year, because this year TLG has uploaded singular images for the majority of the new 2016 sets to their servers themselves already! Thanks, LEGO!

Ordinarily I’d begin by looking at sets from Star Wars or Marvel, but the set that created more hype–and more of a buying frenzy once released–this year was actually a Disney Princess set: the Frozen Elsa’s Ice Castle set. And so, let’s see if either of the sets LEGO has designed for 2016 look like they’ll be able to match that success…

LEGO Anna & Kristoff's Sleigh Adventure SetAnna & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure (41066)

First, we’ve got 41066 Anna & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure. This is the set that will introduce minidolls of Kristoff (the human) and Sven (the reindeer). I think the set will prove popular with romance-minded little (and big) girls because of Kristoff, and hey–everyone loves Sven.

I am definitely a tad disappointed that LEGO didn’t do anything to make Sven a bit cuter or more cartoonish–he looks too realistic and like a generic reindeer to me, rather than a specific named character. But oh well! I guess a realistic-styled Sven is better than no Sven at all!

The official description for the set is below:

Enter the world of Disney Frozen on an exciting sleigh ride with Anna and Kristoff. Whether youre traveling through the snow or shopping for winter supplies at Wandering Oakens Trading Post, Kristoffs sleigh allows you to reenact memorable scenes from the film and create new stories of your own. Includes Anna and Kristoff mini-doll figures plus Sven the reindeer.

Meanwhile, the other set that TLG has got for Frozen fans in 2016 is almost without question going to be the more popular of the two sets, as it finally brings fans what they’ve been demanding: Arendelle Castle! I have to confess that I have not seen the Frozen Fever short, as I didn’t go to see the Cinderella live-action movie, but I do recognize this set as being Frozen Fever-themed thanks to the many hours that I’ve played the Disney Tsum Tsum game.

This set will give collectors the first-ever Celebration Elsa and Celebration Anna minidolls, as well as another Olaf and the first-ever brick form appearance of the Snowgies (you get three of them)! This set may not be quite as large as many fans were hoping for, but it is still a size improvement over the Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle set. The official description for the set is below:

Enter the world of Disney Frozen and for building fun with Elsa, Anna and Olaf. Beautiful Arendelle castles enchanting details such as the ice room, Annas bedroom and a roof slide give you all the inspiration you need to recreate magical scenes from Disney’s Frozen and Frozen Fever, as well as your very own adventures. LEGO Anna & Kristoff's Sleigh Adventure Set
Both the 41068 Arendelle Castle Celebration and the 41066 Anna & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure sets will be officially released on January 1st, 2016. That said, if this year’s Disney Princess sets are released anything like the previous two years’ sets, we can safely expect to see some quantities of this set arriving in December 2015. If you want either of these Frozen sets for a Christmas present, keep your eyes peeled to this page and our Facebook/Twitter pages–I’ll be posting an alert as soon as these sets are found anywhere in the world!

What do you think of the two LEGO Disney Princess 2016 Frozen sets, brick fans? Will you or your loved ones be adding one or both of these new toys to your collection, or are you satisfied with the previously-released Elsa’s Ice Castle set?

  1. I love it, the kid will love it, but WHY, why can’t they release these in time for Christmas gifting? That would be two fewer gifts for Santa and I to figure out, and a raincheck under the tree just isn’t the same.

    Oh well.

    • Christi, if you run around before christmas, they do usually release them in the weeks leading up to the holidays at the big stores (target, walmart and toys r us) last year the elsa’s ice palace started trickling out early december as were some of the other new lego movie sets and such. i picked up every “January” release in the week before christmas so i’d say keep an eye out. and if you work close to a place like that, just pop in every day at lunch or something.

      • Well, for whatever reason, these were released online a month early, so I grabbed a pair (and the Doctor Who set) and they’re hidden in the gift closet right now. I guessed they’d be out of stock pretty fast, but it looks like I was wrong.

  2. …Lego, lego. You, uh, you kinda botched something on the sleigh set. See that building? That sign? What’s it say? Oaken’s Trading Post. Who isn’t in this set? It’s like a Cantina without a bartender.

  3. These sets are ugly and cheap looking. Why not build something more spectacular than all these sets that look like Lego Jr sets and they cost $40-50.
