LEGO–like many, many other toy companies–really missed the boat last year when they decided not to have any LEGO Frozen sets at all in their 2013-2014 lineup. I’ve had people messaging me all year long asking me when a Frozen LEGO Disney Princess set would appear, and I’ve had to respond all year long with “hopefully 2015”. Thankfully, now I can answer with “definitely 2015!” The LEGO Disney Princess Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Palace 41062 set has now been revealed!
UPDATE 1/1/2015: LEGO Frozen Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Palace is now available for order!
It was almost an absolute certainty that there would be a Frozen LEGO set amongst the LEGO Disney Princess 2015 sets, but it’s great to know that the dreams of armadas of LEGO-loving Frozen fans will be coming true in just a few months!
The LEGO Frozen set will be available for order online once it fully hits stores, as the set is not exclusive to any one retailer. 41062 LEGO Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Palace contains 292 pieces and should retail for $29.99-$39.99 (depending on how greedy LEGO is feeling when they officially price this set).
Personally, I would have preferred a much larger and more elaborate Ice Palace for Elsa–considering that this is sure to be a blockbuster best-selling set, but I guess an undersized LEGO Frozen Ice Palace is better than none at all!
The 41062 LEGO Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Palace set will be officially released in January 2015, but I expect limited quantities of the set to show up online and in certain stores before Christmas 2014. If someone you love (or you) can’t live without having this LEGO Frozen set before the holidays, then keep checking here and pay attention to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page, as I’ll post an alert the moment sightings of this set start coming in from anywhere in the country.
Now that it’s finally been announced, what do you think of the 41062 Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Palace LEGO set from Frozen, LEGO fans?
I love we’re finally seeing photos for it, but like you, am a bit underwhelmed by the smallness of it. Was also hoping for a larger ice palace.
Maybe we’ll get lucky and they will release it early for V.I.P. members. My girl would *love* to open this Christmas morning.
Personally, I like the “smallness” of it, as it keeps the price down. The PAB bins, at the Lego Stores, recently had some 2×2 rounds in one of the trans blue shades. In the past they have had other pieces in various trans shades. I like having a small set to get my theme started, and then add on using pieces from the PAB bins.
Ilove it can’t wait to get it for my grandaughters.
Looks like mostly large premade that won’t offer much of a challenge and be built in no time. Why does Lego “dumb down” their girl sets?
Cost, I’m sure. Take a look at the buildings/bases in the Ninjago, Chima, and Friends lines. Anything decent sized is over $60, the truly impressive ones are $100 or more. Pictures are out for the Little Mermaid undersea castle too, it’s a little bigger than Elsa’s castle (379 pieces vs. 292) and also nowhere near what’s in the movie, but about typical for a dollhouse type of playset.
The only Lego buildings that even approach what they are supposed to represent are the Modular Buildings Expert sets (e.g. Parisian Restaurant, Palace Cinema) which tend to be $150.
It would have been nice to have the Frozen ice palace at the $60 or $80 price point (like the Cinderella castle) rather than $40, but Lego always ensures that the majority of the sets they put on the mass market are more affordable for parents.
I can’t wait for somebody with stop-motion filming equipment to make a “Let It Go” video of this set coming together.
Too generic looking, I could easily customize my own today. Look at the work Lego spend on Chima and even the Special Agents sets. Atleast put the effort in and make Elsa look like Elsa and not like a cheap $4.99 Lego Friends.
I’m disappointed. Why do “boys movies” get regular minifigs and regular LEGO sets (LEGO Star Wars, for example) while “girls movies” get crap like this?
“. . . while “girls movies” get crap like this?”
Excellent question. I’ll be passing on this set and getting my granddaughters Ninjago and Creator sets, instead. And it’s also irritating that the female minifigs in the licensed sets only come in the big buck sets.
Oh lordy. They do it because MOST GIRLS LIKE IT! That’s why.
While it’s not as amazing as I would have hoped, I’ve got a kid who will go absolutely wild for this one when they find out it exists. I may buy two, and combine them into a bigger palace. But for pete’s sake, I hope this one isn’t a limited run like the Mars Rover and Research Institute (since I missed out on both of them). If it is and I miss out again, I’ll never, ever hear the end of it.
No worries–Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Palace is not a limited run set. It should be available for all of 2015 (though it is sure to be a hot seller)!
Personally I think they are missing the boat on this if they don’t release it until after Christmas.
I agree. Releasing this in time for Christmas gifting would be a no-brainer, IMO. They could sell them by the ton in December. (Of course, given the popularity of the Research Institute, I’m surprised they haven’t made more of those, too.)
It is cute and all, but the one over at Lego Ideas is amazing! Wish they would go forward with this one…https://ideas.lego.com/projects/58608
That Lego Ideas project is impressive!
Girls seems to buy any Frozen junk even the Elsa and Anna crap dolls that don’t even look like the Disney ones are sold out. Until girls start demanding quality toys, don’t buy them and buy only the good stuff then you will see quality go up.
It’s out in Denmark already (no surprise, as its the country of Lego). Somebody has bought it. Im only lucky we have boy and hes not interested in lego. lol
I stumbled upon this for 39.99 in a Target in Bethlehem, Ga today. Needless to say, I was surprised, and immediately bought one for my wife!
I bought one this morning at Target!
